25.01.2022 9 month old Rohan nailing his clothes graduation test. Once children are competent rolling over and floating in their swimmers, we test them in full winter clothing. Why? Accidents around water are unplanned, and in most cases, children are fully clothed. This enables them to have this completely new sensory experience in a controlled environment.

With the governments 3 step roll-out to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, KASS Dingley and Hoppers Crossing is slowly but surely working towards re-opening and resuming lessons in the near future. If you would like to register your child for our intensive swim-survival course, we are now taking bookings and allocating time-slots. Please contact our office on 1800 543 779 to enrol in the program.... All existing survival and transitional students will be re-enrolled into their usual timeslots/days for our return (estimated to be June/July 2020). Once we have an exact date emails and text messages will be sent out to update all parents. Any outstanding transitional lessons from term 1 will be applied to your account. Once term dates are set, you will be able to use the parent portal to book these make-up lessons in. We have had many requests for multiple transitional lessons per week as a refresher period. Since, we've trained hundreds of children, moved from an outdoor home pool to a custom built centre, taken instructors onboard, and survived our BIGGEST challenge - COVID. ... Lockdowns have made it impossible for children to have any exposure to water education for most of the year.... As the weather warms up, the lack of practice and regression in skills means we need to be extra watchful, extra careful, and remind our children more often on the dangers of water. RIP little one. YES, our students gain potentially life-saving water skills in just 6-8 weeks.... NO, no dont traumatise, force of toss our students. Our approach is kind, gentle and caring. This doesnt always guarantee tear-free lessons, but then again no swim classes do.

07.01.2022 Kids Aquatic Survival School has opened my eyes to why our kids need swimming lessons! For Survival not just familiarisation! I had my nearly 4yo and 2yo in Austswim accredited classes from 6 months of age. My nearly 4yo daughter was regressing in lessons and wasn’t letting go of me or the instructor and she ONLY wanted to use a floatation device. After watching my daughter in a supervised group lesson with my youngest in my arms, I witnessed the instructor take the 3rd child... out for their turn whilst turning their back on the other 2 kids on the submerged step. My daughter fell off, struggled to surface and was vertical and slowly sinking before my eyes. She was rescued by someone else that day but I immediately enrolled her into KASS. Within 4 weeks/20 lessons of the KASS course my little girl was floating unassisted, rolling over and swimming to the edge. When she finished the survival program she progress onto weekly transitional lessons and was diving down, doing breaststroke and freestyle. My 2yo boy took the full 8 week but was floating calmly, rolling and swimming to the edge by the end. He used these skills nearly 12 months post completing the program when we were holidaying on a remote island in Fiji. The kids were in supervised kids club and he must have escaped and was running around the pool at night and fell in. I was having dinner 10 meters away and saw a young girl run to the table near us and her father back with her towards the pool. I knew something wasn’t right and I ran over to find my nearly 3yo boy calmly floating on his back in the pool fully clothed. To this day I get goose bumps when i talk about it and I am certain this program saved his life that night. That is why its so important children do this program. It’s an indescribable feeling watching your child excel in something out of their comfort zone but within their capabilities and KASS was able to and continue to do that for my children. 03.01.2022 A brief update on additional safety measures taken at both KASS locations in Melbourne to maximize the health and safety of our patrons. Lessons will continue as per usual unless informed otherwise. - We ask for one adult/carer per child attend lessons to minimise the number of attendees at the swim venue - Wash hands on arrival with soap and running water, for at least 20 seconds... - If possible, please shower your child at home after the lesson. This will assist with social distancing as people can leave sooner after their lesson - Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth - Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you dont have a tissue cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow - Utilise the hand sanitizers/tissues offered in our pool areas - Isolate yourself and others in your household for 14 days if you/they have been overseas - Inform us should you have corona illness like symptoms so we can put other families on higher alert - We have temporarily packed away all toys in our play area to minimise the spread of germs and and allow a quicker turn around after lessons - We have upped our centres pool cleaning procedures and will continue to adhere to strict sanitization guidelines of our pool water. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank-you for your co-operation in the above to minimize the risk to all staff, students and their families.
