16.01.2022 Moving away from name calling, blaming, shaming, labelling to naming the virtuous action that is being displayed or wish to be displayed assists a child to become their true potential and life long learners. From "come on don't be shy /fearful to .. "That was very courageous in facing that challenge.... You are so lazy to.. please be helpful and put the dishes in the sink,,,,. you will never learn riding your bike just get up and do it again ..to your perseverance shone rid...ing your bike....... wait a minute i'll get your food now to .please be patient while I get your food organised........ good girl/boy you are great to thankyou for being friendly to the new child who started school today..... good job to "I acknowledge your creativity and being patient in drawing inside the lines. 07.01.2022 Being the best person you can be whether looking through the eyes of a child or your own reflection! It never surprises me that through difficulties one is able to gain insights and understanding. Love, determination, sacrifice, letting go of fear and doubt, moving towards accepting of self, and the gifts one has to offer! "Everyone is born a star, we just need to learn how to shine". In saying that I'm aware that there are many factors that contribute to being the best perso...n you can be. Living a virtuous life and modelling the language of the virtues is a tool that can strengthen authentic being and understand your worth and nobility. Rather than looking at your or others faults and instead call into action the virtue (character) that is required to be the "whole", is a tool that strengthens children character or as a matter of fact anyone who chooses to utilise this new learning. Acknowledging someones helpfulness who does a service without being asked , acknowledging a child's consideration when he/she gives tender attention or does little things to bring happiness to others or practising patience by accepting things you cannot change with humour and grace are very simple yet powerful actions. As we all know language has the power to discourage or empower and transform. I choose the latter.The last few months has given me a greater prospective about the meaning of life and how contributing and being your true self can effect so many lives. Being a comforter, peacemaker, counsellor, coach, friend, educator through embracing virtues into our every day life and living a life of reverence ( meaning have a deep respect for all living things and having time of stillness, reflection and acting as if in the presences of a higher power, whatever that power may mean to you) has transformed lives, families and centres. I have decided to offer my services again in running "Growing Kids with Character" to parents, carers and educators in home settings, schools, centres and family settings. The sessions utilise the 5 strategies of the Virtues Project and accompanied with resources from Embrace Virtues. In addition I offer one on one sessions or couple sessions in being the best person you can be through virtues and creating harmonious, peaceful, happy and joyful homes.
