Also, a shout - out to all the fabulous OTs as well as the educators and carers we work alongside who support young people to maintain their occupations (play, school function and self care). As we wind down in the Southern Hemisphere (final school term), it can be hard for kids, especially with sensory processing differences to bounce back and deal with the demands of the day. I have launched two different sensory tubs with items to support kids who need extra tools to regulate their bodies. Find durable tactile items as well as torches and lamps to soothe minds. 04.01.2022 Cause - effect toys can be the source of pleasure for many kids long past the toddler years. They can be super reinforcing and promote communication, joint attention, fine motor development and more. So I find myself always searching high and low for engaging and unique products. Depending on your goals, you may want a toy that is super easy to operate to encourage independent use and meet sensory needs. However, it’s always a bonus when we find ones that are super reinforc...ing but require an adult to assist in some way. These toys are superb for encouraging joint attention and building relationships! There are a few that I would recommend in store with different benefits 1. Zebra Accordion - soft handling, midline and bilateral hand use 2. Mini Spinny - hand rotation, eye-hand coordination, visual stimulation 3. Dino Jack in the Box. Great for sustaining pincer grip or three finger pinching 4. Twinkle Tummies - squeeze and see lights sparkle with music 5. Hammer Toy - ball run. Strength building and sustained grip.
