20.01.2022 This morning the children enjoyed participating in a fun spontaneous experience as we had two special guest join us today Jospeh and Jamon from Sports JNA. The boys focused on allowing the children to participate in different activities to help build the right skills such as dribbling and kicking the ball into the goal. Joesph and Jamon asked the children to form a train to begin their warm up. For warm up, the children were required to use their gross motor skills to crawl ...under the noodles with their two hands and legs on the floor without touching the noodle. Next the children jumped back in their train to begin to practice the skill of dribbling the ball. The children took turns dribbling with the ball down in a straight line using their eye and foot coordination. As the children made their way back up the line, the next friend took over. The children enjoyed this activity as they moved onto dribbling the ball down the line before using their aiming skills to shoot the ball into the goal. It was great watching the children cheer, motivate and encourage their peers and team mates on as it was their turn to manipulate the ball in a straight line. Please see the educators on how your children preformed in this physical learning experience. National Quality Area 3 Children’s Health and Safety- 2.1.3 Healthy Lifestyle: Healthy eating and physical activity are promoted and appropriate for each child.

17.01.2022 Our centre had the opportunity to be involved in the Child Development Institute for Mainstream Support for children on the Autism Spectrum - as you may know our centre cares for multiple children with diverse needs of all types and embeds inclusive practices to ensure they feel a sense of belonging in our environments. CDI offers specialized Early Intervention programs based on the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), an evidence-based intervention for children on the Autism Spe...ctrum and with Developmental Delays. Their programs are designed to give your child the skills they need to lead an independent life and to fully participate within their family and community, each week our centre had a CDI Therapist visit the childs centre for a 2 hour visit. During this time they modeled and provided guided practices with the child care educators to support and build their skills, enhancing your child’s inclusion within their programs. Enjoy this video of Teddy who currently attends our centre and the CDI Mainstream program. https://vimeo.com/463260014?ref=em-v-share

12.01.2022 Cultural awareness and tradition play important roles in helping young children develop a positive sense of identity and build self-esteem. Studies show that cultural appreciation and awareness contribute to building a positive self image. Developing a strong foundation of belonging and acceptance through cultural celebration and education helps children to create a diverse social network while transitioning into adulthood. At Kids Direction Early Learning Centre we ensure th...e concept of cultural awareness and traditions is imbedded into our curriculum. From the 17th to the 21st of September 2018, educators at the service planned both play based and intentional based learning experiences on the topic of Diwali. Diwali is called the Festival of Lights and is celebrated to honor Rama-chandra, the seventh avatar (incarnation of the god Vishnu).

12.01.2022 To celebrate Chinese New Year in a fun and engaging experience, the children at Kids Direction Early Learning Centre were able to explore the taste of a new culture as they participated in creating a Chinese inspired dish. On the menu in the toddler room: San Choy Bow (Mince meat with capsicum and onion served in lettuce roll). On the menu in the preschool room: Vegetarian Fried Rice (Rice, Zucchini, Carrot and Corn). ... Benefits of implementing a cooking experience in a classroom setting: - Social-Emotional Development: Hands-on cooking activities help children develop pride and confidence in their skills and abilities. - Physical Development: Chopping, squeezing, spreading, and mixing are all cooking skills that help develop a child’s small muscle control and eye-hand coordination. - Cognitive Development: Cooking inspires children’s curiosity, thinking, and problem solving, offering new opportunities to make predictions and observations. - Maths Skills: Cooking enables the children to work on their number recognition skills as they identify the amount of ingredients needed a recipe.
