04.01.2022 Four years ago I was in Guinea living drum and dance every day for over 5 weeks... It was an unforgettable experience. This footage was at Billy Konate’s Drum and Dance Camp at Sangbaralla (and his legendary father and arguably one of the best known Djembe players of all time Famadou Konate was always with us). ... I was bless to learn, be, drum, dance, live the culture and listen to in-depth stories from cultural leaders and teachers during this time... Famadou even told a story of how the Djembe tree is selected...I’ll find a video and share soon. I’m forever thankful for this experience and Chatherine and Eric (from Canada) were brilliant at being translators from French to English. Without them I would have missed so much...and they loved pulling me out of my comfort zone to dance and drum!
