23.01.2022 Today is Swallowing Awareness Day! Many people don't realise that speech pathologists can help people with eating and swallowing difficulties, in addition to communication difficulties. We use the same muscles to swallowing as we do to talk, so it makes sense. In young children, this might present as difficulties chewing or swallowing, difficulties with certain food textures or even difficulties with starting solids in infants.... just to give a few examples.



20.01.2022 As well as helping children develop communication skills, Speech Pathologists can also help children who have difficulties with eating. This might be due to an underlying mechanical difficulty in knowing HOW to chew/bite, or they might be a fussy or picky eater. Here's some ideas to try when introducing new foods with your child.....
