20.01.2022 Playground upgrades underway now. Gaven Park (Glade Drive, Gaven) (picture on left)/top. All equipment is being replaced and this should be open within two week...s. This play area is under shade. Mckenzie Park (Cayuga Street, Nerang, next to the PCYC), should be completed late November. All equipment is being replaced. This will include a 'combo' swing for a parent and toddler (in response to a recent request from a resident on a facebook page somewhere(!)(I am listening). Unfortunately, however, it has only recently been determined that the entire shade structure at this park has to be completely replaced and this is going to take months! But there are lots of trees here, and I will pursue the replacement structure.

20.01.2022 Our boys celebrated their 5th and 3rd birthday today! One loves tornadoes and the other loves Hot Wheels, and I was nervous about finding a cake maker to put both ideas in the one cake! I love to find and support local businesses who are doing great things, and Cakealicious, you did it! A big thumbs up from both of the boys. Roger said the rocks were his favourite. The adults gave the flavour a thumbs up too You can try some of their yummy cupcakes for sale at Doodlebugs Indoor Play & Party Centre.

15.01.2022 Awesome refresh of a local playground! We are spoilt for choice when it comes to fun adventure playgrounds on the coast, and its been great rediscovering them all over again. Who else is loving being able to see friends for play dates?

13.01.2022 The Surrounds, Helensvale - Park Equipment Yesterday we asked City Officers to confirm if it was safe, and if there was any additions / modifications that are... needed to be made to the slide components. The playground has been recently handed over to Council from the Developer (noting that the parks soft landscaping, is still on-maintenance and under the control of the development). Accordingly, the playground is now inspected and maintained by Council. It has been signed off by Council officers for compliance to both Australian playground and softfall standards. The playground is designed to provide certain challenges to the different aged children using it. Playground challenges also restrict those children incapable of using the equipment from going to different levels of the playground. The following is the answer received to our inquiry:- "Please be advised that the play equipment in question currently complies and is certified to current Australian Standards for playgrounds and soft fall, and that the playground items are inspected for defects and safety issues on a proactive routine basis. Council recognises that children need and want to take risks when they play, and risk taking is an essential feature of play provision and of all environments in which children legitimately spend time playing. Therefore the design intent of a playground aims to respond to these needs and wishes by offering children stimulating and challenging environments for exploring, developing their abilities and helping children learn how to deal with risks. Council rightfully assumes that carers of young or vulnerable children will be under the supervision of a competent adult, capable of implementing the appropriate level of care required for managing the risk that a playground represents". #Helensvale #ParkEquipment #Challenges

06.01.2022 We just had the best coffee and a play at our favourite indoor play area Doodlebugs Indoor Play & Party Centre. This place is a lifesaver when you need to get the kids out of your hair and have a coffee in peace. Doodlebugs has saved my sanity many times!
