17.01.2022 INFORMATION FOR TENANTS: RENTAL SUPPORT ON THE SUNSHINE COAST FOR TENANTS! I’ve been in contact with my previous Supervisior at Act for Kids Family & Child Con...nect Service. She has kindly provided information & advice below for anyone who may need some extra support right now whilst this ever increasing problem is occurring here on the coast. So please feel free to share with others as there are some great support options to reduce the impact of stress & homelessness occurring. I’m also offering free mental health sessions for anybody who may be experiencing mental, emotional or physical distress due to this unfortunate current situation. So please reach out if you need . For individuals and families at risk of becoming homeless I would recommend they get advice from QSTARS on 1300 744 263 on their rights as Tenants. There is also a new Tenants Qld project supporting people who are renting and impacted by the COVID pandemic. This project has linked in with the Family Support Collective and have been very clear that no one should be leaving their current rental property if they have no where to go or are going to become homeless. Family & ChIld Connect (FaCC) can assist families with a referral for specialist tenancy support from this project. The current referral pathway for people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness is the Homelessness Hotline Ph 53 52 7333 and ask for the Homelessness Hub. The staff will assist people to register for a range of products to support access to private rental (eg head leasing) through the Department of Housing and Housing services. This may be helpful for some. The FaCC team are also available to any families or professionals wanting information about services on 13 32 64 I hope this information is useful and can help someone find some extra support they need right now Please don’t feel any guilt or shame in asking for help and support that’s what I’m here for. 10.01.2022 After many Inquiries into Family Court and Child Sexual Abuse children are still telling psychologists, social workers, parents, and police they are being sexually abused, and still, they are not being heard. Girl age 5 told a professional what happened to her. The professional put in a notification to Child Safety. There are two (2) notifications made by different people to Child Safety QLD. Police did talk to the alleged perpetrator who said it didn't happen. Police did ...not believe this child and said she was too young and there is no evidence to go to court. Nothing more will happen to protect this child and she has to go back to the perpetrator's house where her mother lives. Do we need to get really angry? Why are front-line police not trained yet? Where are the PRADO teams? SCAN teams? Where is CPIU? Child Safety? You could all stop this in its tracks but you don't. Stop it before it turns to rape. After everything that has happened in the last few months, this 5-year-old is forced into a situation that is going to ruin her life forever. She should not be another statistic. She is 5.
