19.01.2022 Daily Yarning circles provide children with a safe space to share, to listen and to collaborate with their peers. We use a talking tool as a visual prompt to support every child’s engagement and to build children’s confidence in expressing their voice everyday. Today the topic of our Yarning circle was R U OK? Each child shared their own feelings of mental well-being and children addressed their peers asking, R U OK? while educators gently guided and role modelled the conversations that followed. Through these interactions we are educating and spreading awareness on the importance of speaking out and how to respond when someone says they’re not ok. #RUOK #moretosayafterRUOK #ask #listen #checkin #conversation #reachout #earlyeducation

02.01.2022 This evolving wall reflects and documents our ongoing learning of Aboriginal culture. Throughout our journey we continue to dig deeper, challenging what we know, and the ways we pay our respect to the original custodians of the land on which we play, eat, sleep and live. The children add to the wall as their inquiry, knowledge and awareness grows, taking us further into learning. The people on the wall are us, representing that together we can bridge the gap.

01.01.2022 Recently the children have been exploring their identities, extending their vocabulary and learning new ways to describe themselves. The books ‘I am enough’ and ‘I believe I can’ have provoked an inquiry into how we perceive ourselves and others, and has seen the children engage in a range of affirming practices and confidence building experiences. Persistent, kind, happy, smart and patient are some of the beautiful words children chose to describe themselves as they looked inward this week.
