21.01.2022 Next up in our Meet the Teacher series is Miss Laura! Miss Laura joined the Kidswim team at the start of 2016 and has been a swimming teacher for 5 years. Laura is also a qualified beach lifeguard and spends most weekends on patrol at the beach! We asked Laura a few questions so you can get to know her: Why did you become a swim teacher? I became a swim teacher because I love working with kids and I love being in the water! Ive spent so much of my life in the ocean and I ...think its so important for kids to be confident and safe when theyre out enjoying the water! Its my goal to ensure that every child I teach becomes confident both in and around water! Do you have any children? I have two fur babies, a cavoodle called Benji and a cat called Tiger! Fun facts or quirky insights students wouldnt know? I have 2 Australian medals for a sport through Surf Life Saving (and am hopefully going for more this year!). Ive travelled to 20 different countries, lived and volunteered as a primary teacher for a month in the Galapagos and Ive also played soccer for 15 years! Are you studying anything / have any qualifications (other than swim teaching)? Im in my last year of university studying primary education and psychology. See more
