24.01.2022 Pre-writing skills are the fundamental skills that children need to develop before they are able to write such as holding a pencil, drawing a picture, copying shapes, letters, numbers and colouring in. Pre-writing skills allow a child to be able to effectively hold a pencil and use it confidently to produce legible handwriting. Our Kindergarten programs incorporate pre writing activities within our Programs

22.01.2022 Build it up, build it higher! Playing, assembling and deconstructing blocks draws upon a child's ability to problem solve and forms the foundation for understanding mathematics as they progress through to further education. You could say they are the perfect analogy for the building blocks of learning!

21.01.2022 Today we had a visit from Ocean Stars Marine Education. As a part of Sustainability Week, the children learned about the ocean, how to care for the sea creatures, how to be sustainable and why we should not throw rubbish in the sea or down the drain. The best part of this educational presentation was the hands-on interaction with some live sea creatures, such as sea stars, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and some tiny crabs.

19.01.2022 Leaving children unattended in a vehicle can result in serious injury or death. The temperature inside a parked vehicle on a typical Australian summer day can be up to 30 degrees hotter than the outside temperature. In as little as 5 minutes, the temperature in a vehicle can reach dangerous levels. The impact of heat on a childs body is almost immediate and can be fatal. A childs body temperature rises three to 5 times faster than an adults, placing them at greater risk of... life-threatening heat stroke, brain injury, heart and lung failure and dehydration. A child left unaccounted for in a vehicle is also unprotected and vulnerable to danger, particularly in an emergency situation. It only takes one shortcut on safety to have devastating, lifelong consequences. Tips for families: Create a Look Before You Lock routine. Building simple steps into your daily routine can help lower the risk of unintentionally leaving a child in a vehicle: Place an item you will need at your destination in the back seat of the car, such as your bag or wallet. Attach a mirror for rear facing car seats so you can easily see your child. Create a mental checklist to run through every time you leave the car, such as baby, keys, bag. Get in the habit of checking your backseat every time you get out of the car. Check even if you know your child is not with you. This will help make looking before you lock part of your normal routine. Look Before you lock. Every time. Without fail. Discuss your Look Before You Lock routine with every person who drives your child anywhere. This includes partners, grandparents, babysitters, and friends. Be extra alert if your routine changes. The risk of unintentionally leaving a child increases with a change in routine. Importantly, if you accidentally lock your child in a car or you come across a child left unattended in a vehicle: 1. Keep calm 2. Think clearly and act quickly 3. Call your roadside assistance provider if you have one 4. Call 000 immediately if you have any concerns about the childs health. See more

17.01.2022 What starts as a tiny seed can grow into big ideas. When children see the impact they can make on the growth of a plant, they begin to understand their impact on the environment. Starting an appreciation for sustainability at a young age means our children can one day out-grow us with their blossoming ideas.

15.01.2022 STEM = Science Technology Engineering Mathematics We provide hands on experimental learning and practical inquiry processes to deliver STEM learning. Learning by doing is an essential part of teaching young children and by providing hands on experiences we make learning more fun, relevant and interesting to the children. This assists the child to facilitate development of necessary skills through our open ended activities, allowing each child to select from their own skills toolkit and direct their own learning journey to create a solution - problem solving, estimating, calculating, communicating and collaborating.

14.01.2022 We ensure that every reasonable precaution is taken to protect children from harm and from any hazard likely to cause injury. Taking precautions involves our Educator’s carrying out risk assessments within our service to assess the risks and plan how to manage them.

11.01.2022 Our purpose-built outdoor play area has been designed with the best interactive outcomes for children in mind. Allowing children to explore and experiment in natural elemental environments that encourage inclusive and interest-led play, we have created a place for educators to teach and children to learn. From little things, big things grow. ... We have integrated gardening into our curriculum as we believe in the many benefits that such a rich, wholesome outdoor activity can bring to the children in our care. With interest-led learning at the heart of all that we do, our child-focused programs are inspired by childrens curiosity and are designed to nurture the development of each child. What better way to facilitate this than by gardening.
