25.01.2022 Today at Dianella we explored our new room environments as we continue to practice self-regulation and recognising our emotions. The light table is a great spot for when we need to take five minutes for ourselves - it also helps us with our colour and pattern recognition, and our fine motor skills as we stack the cups!

25.01.2022 This week at Dianella we finished our art display of Under the Ocean Exploration. The Kindy children have been learning about and exploring what lives in the Ocean. We read the picture book Commotion In The Ocean by Giles Andreae. We learnt more about the animals in the book and found more underwater animals that were not mentioned in the book. The Kindy children created starfish, jellyfish and coral. ... #KidzBizPerth

We are beginning this topic starting off with DINOSAURS and we have begun setting up some amazing learning areas. The areas we have set up and will extend on are: ... 24.01.2022 This week at Dianella, the children continued to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly! They learnt that a female butterfly finds a safe place to lay her eggs and later followed on and discovered that the eggs will hatch into caterpillars! To show this, the children collected some natural materials such as leaves and flowers for their caterpillars to sit on in the garden. ... #KidzBizPerth

23.01.2022 Wednesday adventures at Wanneroo Kindy This week we started off our morning with some arts and crafts inside. We used our imaginations to create our very own planets! After some fun in our space area and camping area we had our morning mat session and some yummy morning tea. The rain stayed away so we can play outside with the LEGO and our building blocks!

22.01.2022 Happy Christmas Eve Eve! Today at Wanneroo, after some yummy morning tea and a run outside we came in to enjoy some grinchy green cupcake making and some music time on the mat - Christmas songs, of course! In the afternoon we watched The Grinch with the Kindy children and all shared our yummy snacks we made.

21.01.2022 Recently at our Dianella centre, we extended on our interest of Christmas baubles through a fun sensory- art experience. We investigated the shape of a bauble. The children had lots of fun decorating their own bauble with bright colours on the light table. We did this activity in pairs which promoted our social emotional skills.

21.01.2022 The kindy children at Kidz Biz Wanneroo have spoken about how they celebrate Christmas. They also recognised that some people may not see their family this year. To extend on this the children have written letters to the elderly residents of the nursing home in the area. They are hoping to become pen pals and send many more letters #kidzbizperth

14.01.2022 Meanwhile at KidzBiz on Monash Miss Marnie taught us all about bushtucker - sharing images of indigenous Australians hunting and foraging for food as well as encouraging us to develop our literacy skills as we described the taste and textures of a variety of native nuts, seeds and berries. We talked about what type of bushtucker we would like to see growing in our edible garden and planted some wonderful bush mint and native thyme. ... We were all a little bit "grossed out by the video of a local Nyoongar man locating a witchety grub under the bark of a streaky gum and sharing it with his son. Most of us claimed that we would "try" a witchety grub if we had the opportunity but only one of us was clever enough to suggest dipping it in chocolate... great idea Patrick! #KidzBizPerth

13.01.2022 It was PARTY PARTY PARTY in the Kindy Room earlier this week today with 2 of the children AND one of our educators all celebrating their birthdays. Our DINO PARTY was in full swing all day with TRexs to trace, prehistoric scenes to design, Pterodactyl eggs to shake, shake, shake to our favourite dino tunes and a chocolate cake to measure, mix, bake and ice.......all before morning tea! #KidzBizPerth

12.01.2022 We started the week with a bang at Beaumaris! On Monday we used a special salad spinner to create pretty wheels for the wheels on the bus. We also finished our rockets and made pictures with our crayons! It was such a fun, activity filled day!... #KidzBizPerth

12.01.2022 Another fabulous morning in the bush as the Kindy Crew went in search of the Easter Bilby! Prior to leaving the centre, we researched Australian animals online, identifying the features of each. We sang "There Was A Cool Marsupial-ool" and danced the Bilby Hokey Pokey before heading into the Karakatta Reserve on the look-out for any signs of bilby presence! We're pretty sure we located bilby tracks, hairs, whiskers, nests and poops (take that David Attenborough!) ... We shared a reading of Kim Dale's "What Aussie Animal?", listening carefully to the clues to help us identify the animal, joined in a bilby hunt and ran bilby egg & spoon races. Finally, we shared last weekends newspaper article about the "blonde" wombat born in a Victorian wildlife park and brainstormed potential names to submit for their competition. On the way home we discovered a tree stump covered in bright orange fungus... we were fascinated by the colour, texture and shape of the fungi and Miss Marnie has promised to teach us more about these crazy organisms next week! Back at the centre, we kept busy making Easter cards for our families, cutting and sorting healthy vs. unhealthy foods and investigated the letter B. Swipe across for some snaps of the day!

10.01.2022 Over at KidzBiz Dianella, the nursery room is starting a focus on sea animals. We're using the projector to display a video on the wall of animals swimming in the sea. The children have been approaching the video to observe the movements, sounds and colours and trying to touch the animals. How cute! #KidzBizPerth

05.01.2022 The Kindy Crew at KidzBiz on Monash catapulted into their ANZAC investigation this week with a focus on who the ANZACS were, where they fought (Gallipoli) and why we wear poppies to help us remember. We recreated ANZAC Cove in the form of an interactive sensory tray where soldiers sail in newspaper boats to the sandy beach with their Australian flags and used sticky dots to make an "A" for ANZAC. We made beautiful poppies from tissue paper to lay at the War Memorial a...s well as a giant poppy collage for our LEST WE FORGET display. In the garden we used red potatoes and black recycled bottle tops to stamp poppies across our Flanders Field. We read "Lest We Forget" by Kerry Brown, comparing the lives of the soldiers to our own and listened to the story of "ANZAC Biscuits" written by Phil Cummings and narrated by primary school children. We loved investigating Miss Marnie's real bugle and sitting in deliberate silence thinking about the brave soldiers while we listened to The Last Post. We also learned to sing the first verse of Advance Australia Fair and can't wait to tell our big brothers and sisters what "girt by sea" actually means! Our student teacher, Ethan, helped us make ANZAC biscuits for afternoon tea. We loved measuring the ingredients, melting the butter in Miss Marnie's Soldier Stove and rolling our dough into smooth balls to bake in the oven. We also learnt that many of our Muslim friends are celebrating RAMADAN. Curious George helped us understand what this means and we think that we would be "hungrier than a lion" if we couldn't eat during daylight hours. We used Burhana Islam's illustrated "Muslims who Changed the World" to celebrate famous Muslims including Muhammad Ali and Ibtihaj Muhammad (swordswoman and Olympic world champion). Many thanks to those parents who have sent in photos of friends and relatives in the Defence Forces with their shiny medals... the children love to share them.

03.01.2022 Some of the girls from our Dianella centre recently paid a visit to REmida to collect recycled items to use in our programming as part of our sustainable practices ethos. REmida Perth is a creative reuse centre with stocks items that are repurposed, not recycled. Good on you, team!

Children visit their next care group for short periods throughout the day, for several weeks, before finally moving up. 03.01.2022 What a wonderful initiative! We are so proud of our Wanneroo team for their recent involvement with Second Bite, working with one of their lovely volunteers Monica to arrange fresh groceries for families in need, who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. With many families losing income in recent times, we sat down and thought how could we help our families and give back to our families just as they continued to support the centre. ... On Monday we had a delivery from Second Bites of bread, pastry and fruits for families to help themselves to. Seeing how something so small meant so much to all our families, we have since organised to become a community drop off point that will now receive a donation 1-2 times per week of fruit, vegetables, breads and pastries. We plan to extend this out to our Wanneroo OSHC and our other early learning centres, too. We are passionate about giving back and supporting our community and this is just a great start. #KidzBizPerth
