25.01.2022 Good News Story Hunter and his family love to go to the beach, so getting a beach wheelchair for Hunter was very important . Thanks to the help of Hunters KidzWish Occupational Therapist and with the support of the NDIS Hunter has received his very own beach chair. This will give Hunter and his family, freedom and enjoyment to make many memories together!

The KidzWish Discover Day is a wonderful partnership with the UOW’s Early Start Discovery Space that will help to inspire and grow our children’s minds with learning through play. ... Our dedicated therapist will be there on the day allowing our children to participate in activities at their own pace in a private setting, accommodating all needs and capabilities. We will also have a team from the Discovery Space to facilitate and educate at each of the displays. Learning through play is how a child's mind is developed and every experience at The Early Start Discovery Space is backed by research. Whether your child is boarding a vessel headed for Antarctica, role playing the day in the life of a construction worker or maybe even taking on the precarious journey of a piece of food (what goes in must come out), the KidzWish Discover Day is an event not to be missed.

12.01.2022 Author Karen Hendricks was kind enough to come along to our KidzWish Children's Christmas Party to launch her latest book, go Away, Foxy Foxy. This was such a special day for our children and we would like to thank Karen for providing this special opportunity for our children. Velvet, Valentine, and Vanilla Bean, heard a rustling of leaves and the scraping of branches. Huddling together in their treehouse sleep-out and listening hard, Velvet whisper-shouts - 'Fox claws.' Wha...t can the bunnies do to protect themselves? How can they work together to scare fox away? With wonderfully bright illustrations by Naomi Greaves, Go Away Foxy, Foxy is a beautifully told tale of how, when confronted with a situation, working together can solve a problem.

In her past roles she has worked with NSW Wheelchair Sports, coaching athletes with disabilities and she has also worked as an Occupational Therapist within both neural and spinal rehabilitation. Emily is passionate about being a part of the KidzWish team and working for an organisation that is making a difference.

For many people, the KidzWish support group may fill a gap between medical treatment and the need for emotional support. A person's relationship with a doctor or other medical personnel may not provide adequate emotional support, and a person's family and friends may not understand the impact of a disease or treatme...nt. The KidzWish support group among people with shared experiences may function as a bridge between medical and emotional needs. Common experiences among members of the KidzWish support group often means they have similar feelings, worries, everyday problems, treatment decisions or treatment side effects. Participating in the support group provides an opportunity for children and families to be with people who are likely to have a common purpose and likely to understand one another.
