23.01.2022 The effects of the recent floods have been absolutely devastating for our community. One that hits close to home is the destruction of the iconic Whalebone Wharf, a restaurant that feels like home to us here at Ki-ea. Nathan and the team have lost everything and will receive no insurance assistance. Losing their restaurant not only affects Nathan and his staff, but also all of the local suppliers who provide the restaurant with their quality produce. Whalebone Wharf has held a place within the hearts of many locals and traveller’s alike since it’s establishment in 1971. If you are able to help, in any way, we have linked the GoFundMe page below, as it will no doubt be a long road to recovery for this rare gem.

Ki-ea is currently playing home to families who were evacuated from the North Shore, and the crew at Self Seen delivered food packages to these people who have been affected by the recent floods. It’s heart warming to see this community of ours supporting one another through yet another heartbreaking disaster.

The emergency service people who have showed up once again for our community have been absolutely wonderful, and for this we are eternally grateful.
