18.01.2022 In the battle of chalk vs cheese there’s rarely a clear winner. So many prize the chalk whilst an abundance savour the cheese. In this situation, Locky is most... definitely the cheese. He loves to walk around with a toy in his mouth exuding disgruntled noises until some unsuspecting by-passer embraces the amusement this act deserves and delivers him the attention he so craves. Scruffy on the other hand, whose sleek form and demeanour defies his bestowed nomenclature, exhibits a dignified, composed and refined air of importance. These brothers are miniature poodles, who, incredibly, are close to 13 years of age. It impossible to know how much time they have left, however, their age most certainly defies both their mental acuity and physicality. Although Scufffy is a more delicate specimen than Locky, who has been known to pull on the leash to a startling degree, both boys can run like the the wind, are as sharp as a tack and can jump onto the highest set furniture with ease. Most people cannot fathom their age on meeting and this, no doubt, is in large part due to the high level of care they have received throughout their lives. Full of character, loyalty and love, these darlings do not acknowledge their age in any way, though they may show some mild symptoms at times. They have been very loved in their prior home and come to us through no fault of their own. A fulfilling and enjoyable retirement for these character-filled boys is as incredibly important to us is as it is their prior caretakers. Locky is a most robust and outgoing fellow who apparently intends to live forever. He is confident and independent though can be a little confrontational on leash with his fellow doggy comrades. Scruffy, who walks in his shadow is a sensitive and slightly more petite entity, though he enjoys good health and basks in the company of his special people. Together they serve to comprise the most rich and entertaining insta-family. They have so much life yet still in them and are so overflowing with the love they have to bestow that anyone who considers them too temporary to take on has a limited understanding of the rich fabric of life and the fleeting nature of joy. We are looking for a special home for these brothers. We seek an individual or couple who can treasure the transient nature of existence enough to enrich these boys’ lives for the time they have left and soak up the goodness they can deliver in return. We also hope that their new family will exhibit a strong prioritisation of life’s quality over its quantity and be able to make a timely decision with regards to these adorable kids’ retirement into Rainbow Bridge. Though potentially a little way off for these lovely boys, we do not wish for them to suffer in favour of their caretaker’s comfort, and we seek someone who has realistic standards in this regard. Although older, these boys require a certain level of human vigour or stamina in their future caretaker as Locky is 9kg of pure horsepower on lead and Scruffy often requires carriage to his destination due to his compliance reluctance, particularly in venturing to the external lavatory on a crisp morning. These lads have adapted well to a house full of fellow canines, though Locky is particular can exhibit a little sharpness with his doggy comrades. Locky and Scruffy still love to play and get hyper-excited at walkies time. In contrast, however, they do enjoy the closeness of lap-time and gentle affection, as their one-eyed adoration of their person or people is their most prominent feature. Their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a... toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell. Now comes the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes. They regularly cause intestinal blockages and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog. Please be safe with your dogs!
