21.01.2022 AikiJinja, after the ceremonial part getting together in the dojo of O'Sensei in Iwama.

18.01.2022 A little something for Easter, an illustration from the cover of Budo, a 1933 (2593 in Imperial Time) publication of the Dai-Nippon Budo Senyokai () a...nd Aikido Founder Morihei Ueshiba. The cover’s main theme is the opening of the stone door - not quite the usual stone door that people think about on Easter, but Morihei Ueshiba often described Aikido as the second opening of the stone door (the first opening being the famous story from the Kojiki). Morihei Ueshiba stated that the second opening of the stone door is the Floating Bridge of Heaven. Conversely, one could therefore say that since Aikido = second opening of the stone door and second opening of the stone door = the Floating Bridge of Heaven that Aikido = the Floating Bridge of Heaven. Fortunately, we don’t have to do thatbecause Morihei Ueshiba already did: It is said that Aikido is Standing on the Floating Bridge of Heaven. https://www.aikidosangenkai.org//aikido-floating-bridge-h/ We examined the Floating Bridge a little bit in Aikido and the Floating Bridge of Heaven, where we saw that the Floating Bridge (with the opposing forces of Yin and Yang, Heaven and Earth, represented as the gods Izanagi and Izanami) is actually a form of the classic Ten-chi-jin (Heaven-Earth-Man) model that is so common in Chinese martial arts the Yang of Heaven and the Yin of Earth united in Man: Aikido is the Way and Principle of harmonizing Heaven, Earth and Man. As a side note, the three elements that are modeled by the Floating Bridge make up Morihei Ueshiba’s Sangen (as in the Sangenkai) the basic elements of the Universe, and the basic elements of his training method. In any case, he was repetitive about the importance of the Floating Bridge: In the Way, you must first stand on the Floating Bridge of Heaven. If you do not stand on the Floating Bridge of Heaven then Aiki will not come forth. Somoving from the the unification of opposites (Yin and Yang, In and Yo, Heaven and Earth) to the stone door The training of the triangle/circle/square and the training of connective force begets heat and light and power. I should note here that Morihei Ueshiba stated that the triangle/circle/square is another way of modeling the Floating Bridge, and that the connective force that he’s talking about here is the force that joins opposing forces. The training of that connective force, by the way, was something called Takemusu (as in Takemusu Aiki more here) by the Founder. In other words, standing on the Floating Bridge of Heaven,"the second opening of the stone door", is a training method that unites opposing forces in the body, creates heat, light and power physical power, internal power, martial power.

18.01.2022 Some photos of Taisai memorial in Iwama.

13.01.2022 I believe I’m reasonably well known among Michael Field Sensei’s students with a number of them training with me now. One of these students recently commented on something they saw posted on social media which has prompted me to respond. I’ve deliberated for some time about whether I should comment in this way because I don’t want to offend. But I think it’s important to set the record straight: Morihiro Saito Shihan, 9th dan Aikikai Japan, passed away in May 2002. Michael Fi...eld Sensei, 5th dan Aikikai Japan, began awarding his own personal dan ranks to his students from May 2003 and continued to do so until his passing 12 months ago. Field Sensei gave me permission to award his personal dan ranks to my students from May 2005. Since you could not award ranks higher than two levels below your own, I was a 3rd dan when I began awarding Field Sensei’s 1st dan ranks to my students from October 2006, and I was a 4th dan when I began awarding Field Sensei’s 2nd dan ranks from October 2008. I continued to do so until May 2011, prior to me leaving Field Sensei’s group and joining Aikikai Japan. I am not aware of anyone else having authority from Michael Field Sensei to give his personal dan ranks as I had done until just a few months before his passing, when he agreed to allow his instructing group to award 1st dan ranks. I understand that it had been Field Sensei’s intentions that Michael Shaw Sensei lead as the technical heir of Field Sensei’s syllabus and to continue to issue dan ranks upon Field Sensei’s passing. Michael Shaw Sensei and I have been friends for over a decade and I support him completely. I will continue to be his backup when required, such as in these instances, as I was instructed to do by Michael Field Sensei in 2008. Respectfully Michael Farrugia 5th dan Aikikai Japan

09.01.2022 Drug addiction aside, this message speaks about the importance of inter-personal connection and finding purpose in life through our relationships with others.

05.01.2022 I believe this is a recent demonstration from a group either based in NSW who call themselves Australasian Aikikai or from their friends in the UK.
