07.01.2022 Ranch Roping Clinic with Danny Fitzpatrick "Ranch Roping is a style of roping used to treat an animal, when yards are not available or it is more practical to treat an animal on it’s own. With the right technique the animal can be immobilised, laid down and treated so it is back on its feet quickly. Ranch roping involves a lot of different shots and there is a variety for every position whether it’s for head shots or roping feet. This style of roping originated from the 1...600s, when the Spanish Vaqueros were on very large ranches in Spain, Mexico and America. All roping will start on the ground, which is suitable for beginners. We will progress to horses and if participants are confident, then they can work with cattle. The clinic will involve several different head shots from different positions on the animal as well as many different heel shots. The clinic will also cover ground work, laying down the animal and setting ropes safely and efficiently. It will cover horsemanship to position your horse, to enable you to make different shots. I have been involved with this style of roping for over 30 years and worked on ranches in Canada and the USA."
