25.01.2022 We have some exciting news to share about our Aboriginal Health Services Team: Congratulations to Dolie Ufi and Louise and Hannah Moore who have all recently been registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and are now fully qualified Aboriginal Health Practitioners. This is a wonderful outcome for our Aboriginal Health Team here as it deepens the support we can offer our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. In other news, Dolie... is returning to work with us, initially one day a fortnight - on a Tuesday - starting 18 August! Dolie was the first Aboriginal health worker to join our team back in the day, so it is a real honour to have her rejoin us. Congratulations Louise, Hannah and Dolie, all your hard work and dedication to improving the health outcomes of our communities has paid off! And welcome back Dolie!

23.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of Reconciliation Week. For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Australias colonial history is characterised by devastating land dispossession, violence, and racism. Over the last half-century, however, many significant steps towards reconciliation have been taken. Reconciliation is an ongoing journey that reminds us that while generations of Australians have fought hard for meaningful change, future gains are likely to take just as much,... if not more, effort. In a just, equitable and reconciled Australia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children will have the same life chances and choices as non-Indigenous children, and the length and quality of a persons life will not be determined by their racial background. #reconciliationweek #aboriginal #torresstraitislander #nationalreconciliationweek #sydney #westernsydney #krmc #kildareroadmedicalcentre #australia #doctors #nurses #equality #justice

23.01.2022 Due to the Victorian testing blitz, COVID-19 results have been delayed over the weekend as processing labs have been inundated with higher than normal volumes. If you were tested on Thursday and Friday last week, your results should be available either later on today (Mon 6 July), or early tomorrow (Tues 7 July). For those tested over the weekend, your results should be available late afternoon tomorrow (Tuesday 7 July). Any other tests carried out this week may take 2-3 days... to return; please note this is just an estimate. We will endeavour to keep you updated regarding these turnaround times as they become available to us. Thank you so much for your patience.

23.01.2022 Today is National Sorry Day, a day to remember the sorrow and pain caused by policies of forced child removal and to reflect on the sad and painful history of the Stolen Generation. Here at Kildare Road Medical Centre, we normally participate in National Sorry Day events, however due to #COVID19, we instead encourage you all to spend some time reflecting on , ? If you answered , then you can do... one of two things. 1. Answer Yes and do nothing. 2. Answer Yes and commit yourself to all that entails; this being the idea that the dignity of our nation is something held in common with all Australians, it isnt just a word or a phrase or a platform for election to government. It is a very real idea that is visible in the stories, statistics and images that constitute an idea of Australia. It is evident in how we treat one another and, specifically, how we treat our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander fellow Australians. Look past the headlines and noise. 12.01.2022 Dr Phil Humphris is one of the many talented doctors we have onsite here at Kildare Road Medical Centre. Did you know he spent 10 years working in infectious disease epidemics, conflict and natural disasters? In addition to all things #COVID19, hes highly experienced in responding to outbreaks of #measles, #meningitis, #malaria, generally in Africa. This generally involved both hospital-based treatment, and mass vaccination campaigns where relevant. Other than epidemics, the main area of work was in armed conflicts - Iraq War, Darfur War and South Sudan. #coronavirus #sydney #health #nsw #krmc #kildareroadmedicalcentre #doctor #westernsydney #blacktown #life #help #fact

12.01.2022 Did you happen to witness Dr Phil Humphris on tonights bulletin of 9 News at 6pm? Whilst his full interview never made it to air, Dr Humphris explained... "Outdoor activities are generally very low risk for transmission of COVID-19. The risk is mainly for overnight camps if large numbers of people are living and congregating in enclosed and poorly ventilated. If these risks can be mitigated by a covid safe plan, I see no reason why they should be halted unless there is widespread community transmission."

06.01.2022 Being sorry is an important part of healing. 13 February 2021 marks the 13th anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations in which we recognise and acknowledge the Aboriginal and/Torres Strait Islander people who suffered as a result of past Government policies of forced child removal and assimilation. Non-Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders should remember that the apology was not an expression of personal responsibility or guilt by individual Austra...lians, but it was provided by the Australian Government in recognition of policies of past Governments to acknowledge the pain and suffering of the individuals, their families, communities and the impacts on cultural connection and identity that has been lost or damaged as a result. It is important that as a nation, we commemorate this significant milestone, acknowledge the wrongs of the past, while reflecting on the work that still needs to be done to address the impacts of unresolved trauma that Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people continue to face today.
