25.01.2022 A somewhat unusual project.

24.01.2022 It is almost time to pop our heads above the parapet and admit we have been enjoying great creative projects whilst markets are in recess. Unfortunately we do not have space on market stalls to display these so will have to reserve them for special occasions.

23.01.2022 A lovely day to look forward this week Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island. We have been very busy preparing for the cruise ship welcome markets Penneshaw Market and will be at three markets this week - Sunday, Thursday and Sunday. Jim has worked through his "hat phase" and turned his attention to something completely different - just in time for Halloween!

23.01.2022 These are the final components of the medieval armour set for role playing enthusiasts. However they will not be on display at markets as we simply do not have enough space to show it off.

20.01.2022 All packed up for the cruise ship welcome to Sun Princess at Penneshaw Market tomorrow. Looking forward to a good market with many stallholders keen to get back to business after so many cancellations due to hazardous fires. Thanks to all who plan to visit the Island and check out the artisan crafts and souvenirs of our home, fondly known as "The Rock".

19.01.2022 Market visitors always wonder if we work with kangaroo hide. It is not our preference as cow hide has far more potential for carving, which is Jim's true love. However, just for a novelty - here is a kangaroo fur cap.

19.01.2022 Winter is over and we are looking forward to the new market season. We will be at Penneshaw Market the first Sunday of every month until April and also at Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island regularly. These are some of the creative projects that have inspired us over the last 6 months.

18.01.2022 Packing the ute for the trip to Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island tomorrow - looks like a shower and will have to secure the marquees against wind - but the market is definitely on! I have decided to leave the hats home due to lack of room to display safely. Looking forward to some warm and dry weather to come.

18.01.2022 Hi to all those people who have noticed us missing from the Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island for the past six weeks. We were both struck down by a very nasty virus and have been in isolation until we are no longer infectious. However not everything has been at a standstill - Jim is going through a "hat phase" as you can see. Looking forward to returning to markets this Sunday and then onwards to Penneshaw Market for the new season commencing 6th October.

17.01.2022 Weather looking perfect for Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island this Sunday so will pack all the fancy hats, belts and leathercraft (including some market special price belts) and head down the road to join Kangaroo Island artisan craft and food stallholders. New season honey is still in the hives but Sugar Gum, Cup Gum and Creamed honey are in stock and just a little of the Eucalypt.

16.01.2022 Weather conditions are slightly hazardous tomorrow for travelling to Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island so will have to give this a miss. Apologies to anybody expecting to catch up with me there. Weather permitting I will be back to the next market on 23rd June.

16.01.2022 The winter chill has been a great incentive to remain in the workshop tapping away. It is forecast to remain chilly for Sunday at Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island but with clear skies and gentle wind, we will once again be venturing forth. Some new guitar strap designs will be on display and a handcarved wide belt with a fancy buckle.

16.01.2022 Now this one is just to enjoy a challenge. Pony express anyone? Market price $295.00 - provide your own horse.

14.01.2022 Now for something completely different - the style is known as Steam Punk. Perhaps only for those with a slightly macabre sense of humour. Halloween anybody?

14.01.2022 Looking damp for the Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island tomorrow so hoping for some clear breaks between showers. The rain will be a welcome soak and run off to the dams. We will leave the hats home but the belts and leather gear will stay dry under cover and the honey is free to taste and sample. Bring an umbrella and visit the market to browse the goodies on offer.

13.01.2022 It has been a traumatic beginning for 2020 for Kangaroo Island but we will come back stronger. We will not be returning to Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island this weekend due to a long standing commitment in Adelaide but are certainly looking forward to Penneshaw Market with cruise ships on the 19th January and 26th January (big Australia Day weekend). We look forward to catching up with all our Kingscote regulars from February onwards.

13.01.2022 Kangaroo Island tends to be windy and gale force weather encourages indoor action - in this case several more belts with individual patterns, Fortunately the weather for Sunday market Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island looks suitable for open air browsing. See you there!

13.01.2022 Whilst being appreciative of the support and value to the Island economy of cruise ship passengers over the past season, we are stepping back from markets over the next month. Penneshaw Market is now in recess until October and it is time for some gardening leave whilst Jim continues to turn out his own creations in preparation for the return to business as usual.

07.01.2022 Filling in time waiting for the weather to calm down so cruise ship passengers can disembark to enjoy a day on Kangaroo Island. Will see whether the weather forecast is accurate for tomorrow. New products include a Fleur de Lis bag and for something completely different, gaiters. Not sure about the dress code but we do not have brown boots to match. We will definitely be at Kingscote Farmers & Artisan Market - Kangaroo Island on Sunday 24th November and Penneshaw Market the following Sunday 1st December for the regular monthly market.

06.01.2022 Something for Halloween? Or perhaps just for those with macabre tastes.

06.01.2022 With the travel restrictions relaxed, David Young dropped in on one of his get away from it all excursions to Kangaroo Island, where he can practise his jazz with only the kangaroos for an audience. Before returning to Adelaide he commissioned a clarinet carry case so the instrument does not have to be reassembled when joining musicians for a jazz session and also left with a pork pie hat and a new belt. Come again anytime David, we love return customers!

05.01.2022 This will be a very busy week with 5 markets over the next 8 days. There are markets to welcome cruise ship arrivals (provided the passengers are able to disembark) on New Year's Eve, Saturday 4th January and Monday 6th January topped off with the arrival of the Queen Elizabeth on Wednesday 8th January. In between is sandwiched the regular monthly market on Sunday 5th January. See Penneshaw Market for vessel details and updates. There has been daily tap, tap, tap sounds from the leather craft room. Additions to the range include both practical long life use items as well as some for more quirky tastes.

02.01.2022 Just for our market customers - we are working on new designs as well as the old favourites - market season is 3 months away so we are looking forward to enjoying freedom to meet and greet all to Kangaroo Island artisan craft. Just a few samples of our lock-down production including a medieval plague mask key-ring - just as a reminder of how bad things can be.
