25.01.2022 This Friday at Kilkenny Primary and around Adelaide people will be doing Walk A Mile in my Boots for Hutt Street Centre. The Hutt Street Centre is an organisation which helps people who are currently experiencing homelessness with stuff like cleaning clothes and letting them shower and providing food. This year it was called off because of coronavirus so Kilkenny Primary will be doing it after the assembly and recording how far we can walk as a school. After the Walk A Mile there will be fruit brought to your class or at a stand. It will also be a casual clothes day but would like for students to wear Black and Orange (gold coin donation). 23.01.2022 This week is Reconciliation Week which runs from May 26 to June 3. At Kilkenny Primary school, we are recognizing this important week by continuing our learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture. From science to art, our school is integrating practical examples to help our students learn. For example, students have been learning about the use of symbols to convey a message. Students were enthusiastic as they discovered that, like the English language, the Aboriginal written symbols can also convey a message- just like the letter symbols used when writing in English. Often symbols can be better for conveying a message than writing a long sentence- which is why many people use emojis when sending a text message!
