24.01.2022 Get Out, Get Active!... and get on your bike! As part of South Burnett Regional Council’s Get Out, Get Active! program, Council is offering a FREE ten (10) we...ek cycling program on the South Burnett Rail Trail to encourage women and girls to develop regular fitness habits for life. Commencing Saturday 28 July, the program consists of ten weekly cycling sessions on the South Burnett Rail Trail. The sessions will be accompanied by Christian Sutton, a personal trainer. The program is open to all ages and is suitable for all levels of fitness. Participants can bring their own bikes or borrow one of council’s 15 new mountain bikes and helmets. Some bikes are equipped with baby seats. The program begins Saturday 28 July with starting points at Kingaroy, Wondai and Murgon: - Wondai: 28 July at 9:00am from the Visitor Information Centre (after Park Run) - Murgon: 28 July at 11:30am from the Men’s Shed - Kingaroy: 29 July at 9:00am from O’Neil Square The South Burnett Rail Trail is bitumen sealed and scattered amenities are available on the trail. Councillor Roz Frohloff, portfolio holder for Sport and Recreation, said, This is a fantastic opportunity for women to get active in a fun and social environment. Participants don’t even need to bring their own equipment as council can provide mountain bikes and helmets for use during the program. Although the program is aimed at women, friends and family are also welcome to join in. To join the Get Out, Get Active! Get on your Bike Program, contact Christian Sutton on 0408 768 105 or email [email protected] before July 25 to secure your spot. The Queensland Government Department of National Parks, Sports and Racing provided $17,944 to South Burnett Regional Council to fund the Get Out, Get Active! 16.01.2022 TEMPORARY INTERRUPTION - Ergon has advised that an interruption to the power supply to the Memerambi Public Toilet Block located on the Kilkivan to Kingaroy Rail Trail (KKRT) has been scheduled for this Friday 12 June from 9am through to 1pm (approximately). 09.01.2022 South Burnett Regional Council BVRT Project Notice: Council with the aid of local contractors will be undertaking maintenance and upgrade works to the sections of the regions rail trail. During this time the trail will remain open however users are requested to be mindful of plant and machinery. Please observe all signage and directions. This project has been made possible with the assistance of TMR and the BVRT ambassadors.... The first of three stage will begin tomorrow at the Blackbutt Trail Head and head South approximately 1.5km. with later stages to be posted. We thank you for your assistance as we make this great regional asset even better for your future enjoyment.
