21.01.2022 One of our most beautiful and unique spots on the Southern Downs is the Cambanoora Gorge which is accessed via the Condamine River Road. This road is currently... open, however, please remember this area is a natural treasure and the public road is still a delicate part of the areas ecosystem, so please treat it with respect. There are no bins so please enjoy the area but take all rubbish with you and remember the nearest public toilets are in Killarney. Thank you for helping us to take care of the Cambanoora Gorge and treading lightly in this area.

15.01.2022 Important Update #2 24 March 2020 To our valued customers,... As a team, the managers and board of the Killarney Co-op have agreed that drastic measures must be put in place to do what we can to protect our community from the further spread of Covid-19. We are committed to providing a service to this community, as we have done since 1922. As QLD prepares to close their borders, we are preparing to change the way that we do business while the threat of Covid-19 remains. From close of business this Wednesday WE WILL BE OPEN but our doors will close. Members of the public will not be able to enter the store but will need to place an order, either online or over the phone. Our staff will then pack your order and either deliver, or you can collect from the back door. While these measures do not come into force until Wednesday afternoon, we would encourage all customers to please reduce their visits to the store from now on by utilising our online and phone order service. We realise that this will cause inconvenience to some customers we have all become accustomed to popping in to the Coey whenever the urge takes us. Please know that we have the best interests of our customers and staff at heart and will continue to serve you the best way possible while also protecting this community the best way that we know how. Watching this disaster unfold overseas, we simply can not sit back and wait for the next government announcement we are taking action now and we hope that it will go some way to saving the vulnerable members of our community. We appeal for your understanding and look forward to your support in these uncertain times. There will be varying changes in each department. A leaflet will be distributed tomorrow with notes about how each section will provide an ongoing service. We dont know all of the answers yet, but rest assured that we are working on them. In doubt, please call us we will have staff ready, willing and able to assist. We will continue to work with you to provide for your needs, so if you have any particular requirements please do not hesitate to be in touch with us to discuss.
15.01.2022 Hope you all have a fantastic Easter from all at Discover Killarney Qld. Please remember to STAY HOME and STAY SAFE. #stayhome #staysafe
14.01.2022 Border Restrictions Update We are now able to service our clients within the Border Bubble. We have secured a temporary site at the Woodenbong Showgrounds to c...ontinue our Urbenville Run. Sadly many of our clients are still left out of this Border Bubble however we encourage you to call us so that we can work out a way to help within the limitations that have been handed to us. We will continue to advocate for extending the Border Bubble and monitor our exemption applications, however these things take time and priority is being given for medical, family and compassionate exemptions, and rightly so. Please continue to do the right thing so this will hopefully get easier and not harder. Please look after your neighbours and check in often with our older community members to see if they need a hand. Together we can all make this new normal work and quickly work our way back to how our community should work, without borders.

09.01.2022 KillarneyKillarney, a rural town a few kilometres from the New South Wales border, is 120 km south-west of central Brisbane. It is in elevated country, on the headwaters of the Condamine River. The precise origin of the name is uncertain but possibly named after County Kerry, in Ireland.

06.01.2022 Like so many other community organisations - we, too, have to cancel Killarney Picnic Basket Day this year. In the meantime, we encourage you to support local producers, makers, and our little towns wherever you can. #buyfromthebush With kind wishes The Killarney Picnic Basket Day team

02.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE!! We are no longer able to consult at the Urbenville Memorial Hall as current government restrictions require all community halls to be closed. ...We are currently working on ways to continue to service Urbenville and surrounds, however in the interim we encourage anybody that would like a consultation that we would normally be able to do at the Urbenville Memorial Hall to give us a call so we can work through options. Our run Tuesday and Thursday is still operational, so please dont hesitate to call with anything that you need. We are still seeking clarification on access through the border, it sounds like a 24 hour pass will be available, however once we have details to hand we will be sure to share. In these tough times, we need to be kind and help each other as best we can while doing our best to distance ourselves to help stop the spread. Our community was always going to be affected at some stage, we need to be kind to those that are directly affected and support them as well as respect those that are putting in place measures to help stop the spread. We are here to help as best we can, let us know what you need and we will do our best to work out a way to make it happen.
02.01.2022 Southern Downs Regional Council has advised that it has temporarily closed the gates on the Condamine River Road due to safety concerns on the crossings. For further information visit https://www.sdrc.qld.gov.au.

01.01.2022 It is with great disappointment that we must postpone the Killarney Trail Ride at this time. We will announce a new date once we have consulted with our communi...ty groups. The final decision is now beyond our control as one of the many permits we are required to obtain in order to run the event has been cancelled based on the overall safety of participants, volunteers and the general community. The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) has also recommended limits on organised gatherings, including limiting non-essential organised gatherings to fewer than 500 people. https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for In preparing to make a decision we considered many factors, first and foremost our duty of care to the community of Killarney. Whilst there will be a huge financial impact on our entire community, the committee believes that the health and safety of our residents comes first. Killarney has an aged care facility and a lot of our volunteers are in some way connected to this, whether it be as workers or volunteers. Many of our other volunteers work in the aged care sector outside of Killarney. Not to mention the risk of spreading the virus to older people who live and work in our community. Another factor to be considered is the unnecessary pressure we would be putting on the Warwick Hospital system to deal with injuries from our ride on top of the mounting toll of testing people for COVID-19. We have also been advised that if you did require surgery due to an injury this would more than likely be delayed. We would also be required to have a quarantine area for anyone with injuries presenting with symptoms. This would require us to employ more first aid personnel so that all injuries could be dealt with promptly. It is vitally important that we attempt to keep our first responders healthy and not unnecessarily expose them to further risk. We will continue to promote our sponsors and we thank them for their continued support during this time. Raffle tickets will still be sold in Warwick and Killarney and we will announce a new date for the draw once a new ride date has been set. We greatly appreciate the offers of donation and we encourage you and your families to come and visit Killarney and support our local businesses. While you are here, make sure you buy some raffle tickets. We thank you all for your understanding and hope that you will continue to support the Killarney P-10 State School P&C Border Ranges Trail Bike Ride.
