24.01.2022 Border Restrictions Yesterday’s border resident zoning by postcode has created a lot of problems for our border region. Currently 4370, 4373, 2476 and 2372 in our corner of the world are eligible for Border Zone Resident Declaration Pass, now available from https://www.qld.gov.au/border-pass. This leaves Urbenville, Old Bonalbo, Bonalbo, Tannymorel, Emu Vale and Yangan out. Please check out all the information regarding this on the Queensland Government website at https://ww...w.qld.gov.au//public-health-/border-restrictions We strongly recommend everybody to adhere to these new restrictions as penalties and quarantine may apply if you don’t. As Dr Dave lives in 4372, he is not classified as a Border Resident making travel into NSW at this time under the restrictions as is, not possible. However rest assure, we have contigencies in place for all our clients including NSW residents in and out of the Border Resident area, so please call us so that we can help work out a plan to continue to care for your pets, horses and livestock. We are currently working with relevant authorities to hopefully make improvements to this situation including applying for an exemption for Dr Dave. We will keep all our appointments as is for now, and be in touch as to the best way forward as this developing situation progresses. As always, we are here to help, within our ability while adhering to the law, so please call to discuss your needs or if you have any questions or concerns.

22.01.2022 Meet Luna. Luna recently came into the clinic after becoming unwell with inappetence and vomiting. Luna was gravely ill from an unknown cause. But after a lengthy hospital stay with IV fluids and medications she finally turned the corner. Luna was a very touch and go case but as you can see she won the battle and is now happy and healthy again.

18.01.2022 Border Restrictions Update We are now able to service our clients within the Border Bubble. We have secured a temporary site at the Woodenbong Showgrounds to continue our Urbenville Run. Sadly many of our clients are still left out of this Border Bubble however we encourage you to call us so that we can work out a way to help within the limitations that have been handed to us. We will continue to advocate for extending the Border Bubble and monitor our exemption application...s, however these things take time and priority is being given for medical, family and compassionate exemptions, and rightly so. Please continue to do the right thing so this will hopefully get easier and not harder. Please look after your neighbours and check in often with our older community members to see if they need a hand. Together we can all make this new normal work and quickly work our way back to how our community should work, without borders.

14.01.2022 WARNING!! We have seen an increase in the number of rodenticide toxicities in pets of late. Please remember that NO rat bait, no matter the label specifics, is safe for pets! We have also seen an increase in the cases of pets poisoned with no known access to baits directly, only to the rats and mice themselves. While secondary poisoning is usually rare; due to the volumes of mice about this year, it seems to be occurring. Rodenticides have a slow onset of action and can take up to 1 week before signs of poisoning become apparent. Signs to watch for include: lethargy, inappetence, blood in urine, coughing, pale gums and bleeding from nose, mouth etc. If you are concerned about your pet please call the clinic on (07) 46 641 344

10.01.2022 Everyone always says their animals only get sick or injured after hours. Well it’s also true for vets! Dr Jayne & Dr Dave’s Jack Russell, Bonnie, decided to have a tussle with a very large red-bellied black snake today. Unluckily for Bonnie this snake was 1 too many for her snake killing record and she was bitten. Luckily Dave & Jayne were home and able to get Bonnie promptly over to the clinic for treatment. So far she is going well, hopefully we have a happy outcome.
10.01.2022 Dr Ellie was called out to this horse a few weeks ago that had cut its lower eyelid. Thankfully the eye itself was un-damaged. Due to the swelling and contraction of the wound when found it was medically managed at the clinic for several days before being surgically repaired. Dr Ellie did an amazing job as you can see from the before and after photos.
