25.01.2022 Today marks the start of Men's Health Week, an annual event to encourage Australian men to come together and openly discuss health issues, needs and outcomes. B...oth on and off the fire ground, good health is absolutely vital, and it's important to take stock of your health and think about where you're at. Here's five easy actions you can do each day to help boost your wellbeing

25.01.2022 Official hand over! We would like to thank @travledger for his 5 years of captaincy. The entire brigade is very appreciative of his time and dedication. And now we would like to congratulate Tim on taking over the role as Captain. We wish you the best of luck going forward.

24.01.2022 Our brigade tanker made the photo in today's Border Mail article.

23.01.2022 This Australia Day, if your BBQ still hasn’t recovered from New Year’s Day make sure you give it a good clean before firing it up, and always check if it is safe to do so first in our Can I, Can’t I guide - www.cfa.vic.gov.au/can

22.01.2022 With the easing of restrictions, many of you will want to get together with family and friends this long weekend. Be aware of the dangers of barbecues, and especially open fires and fire pits. Ensure all fires are extinguished before going to bed. Stay safe, be careful and enjoy this long weekend!

22.01.2022 It's that time of year! We are once again shaking the virtual tin in support of the good Friday appeal. Every donation makes a difference to such a great cause!

21.01.2022 Today marks the start of Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week. With some cooler weather upon us, now is the perfect time for a reminder about the importance of having... all gas and fuel-burning appliances serviced every 1 2 years, by a qualified gasfitter/plumber. Our friend Vanessa founded the The Chase and Tyler Foundation in memory of her two boys who she tragically lost in 2010 from carbon monoxide poisoning from a faulty gas heater. Visit their page for more info and advice on what you can do to reduce the risk in your home.

21.01.2022 Our brigade members are back at Bunnings Wangaratta today running the Sausage Sizzle. Funds raised help the brigade, help the community. Call in say Hi and grab a snag.

20.01.2022 Shane Fitzsimmons, a great Australian and a great leader. Well worthwhile watching the program.

19.01.2022 Today CFA brigades were called to a number of out-of-control burn-offs If you're using the great weather to clean-up your property for fire season, make sure ...you conduct your burn-off safely. A burn-off, if not extinguished properly can re-ignite days after the original burn. Keep your burn-off safe and legal: Check fire restrictions with your local council and register your burn on 1800 668 511 Check and monitor weather conditions particularly wind To avoid unnecessary calls to emergency services, notify your neighbours beforehand Leave a three metre fire break, free from flammable materials around the burn Have sufficient equipment and water to stop the fire spreading Never leave a burn-off unattended stay for its entire duration If your burn-off gets out of control, call ‘000’ immediately

19.01.2022 This will hugely benefit emergency services personal across the district

14.01.2022 Remember even though things have cooled off fire restrictions are still in place. https://m.facebook.com//a.1902378809946/4326035027414941/

12.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 11.01.2022 Today marks one year since Killawarra was part of a Wangaratta Group Strike Team sent to Walwa and Cudgewa. Crews have described it as driving into hell and the most frightening time many will ever face. Those 16hrs took both a mental and physical toll on crews but thanks to great teamwork and training of members over many years everyone returned home. We must give our thoughts to those at the same fire who were not so fortunate as to return home, and those in the communities that are still rebuilding.
