25.01.2022 Schedorhinotermes in their gallery during a remedial treatment that we were conducting at a house near Beenleigh. These guys traveled over 300mm of concrete in a subfloor to climb the 500mm of bricks to get to the flooring joists. Video shot with my iPhone.

18.01.2022 DIY termite control. Ant sand poured over the outside of a termite nest on a garage. The science seems solid......NOT!!! When it's something serious on your biggest investment don't take the cheap DIY option get a professional. That's why we did all the study. You wouldn't do your own surgery would you?

13.01.2022 The metal plates stacked against the were hiding a very nasty surprise for the home owner. A termite gallery about 10cm across. this was one of about 6 leads into the house over the exposed slab edge and termite capping. The third photo shows where they had chewed through the plastic coating on the hot water pipe. So it goes without saying.....keep a vigilant eye out for these little critters and always get your annual inspection done by a professional pest inspector.

10.01.2022 Schedorhinotermes on a house stump in Beenleigh. every timber stump under the house has been damaged by termites at some point in the buildings 50 year life. You can see in the video 3 different castes, the major soldiers, minor soldiers and the workers. Of these the workers are the only caste that damage timber, the soldiers can't chew timber they have to be fed by the workers.

09.01.2022 Had get under the Elizabeth arcade in Elizabeth st today looking for termites. Would have to be one of the tightest squeezes I've had to force myself into. Not for the Claustraphobic. Didn't like the fact I could here the rats squeeking as I got in there either.

05.01.2022 Here is an example of poor building practices allowing termite ingression. This is a tie down of a bottom plate in an internal wall. The bolt hole has been drilled entirely through the slab(mistake no.1), then a Ramset bolt to hold the wall in place(mistake no.2) coptotermes sp. had followed the bolt thread into the pine and started extensive damage. Three other tie downs had the same issue. There was also another external lead breaching the stainless mesh pre construction barrier. Make sure you get regular inspections by qualified professionals.
