24.01.2022 Superpowers Activate! ABC Central Coast reports that Killy Nippers Jamie and Seb Ansell and Amelie, who's Mum Minette is a patrol 3 Bronzie and Dad Paul an Age Manager, on holidays at Celito Beach up near Smiths Lake on the Mid-North Coast spotted a young lad caught in a rip and headed quickly out the back. While his Mum tried unsuccessfully to reach him, Jamie calmly put the boy on his board and paddled him to safety. We could not be prouder! This simple story could have ...had a very different ending. THIS is why we do what we do. Helping kids get a calm confidence in the ocean through knowledge, awareness and respect for what she can do. That's Nippers, not just at Killcare, but all over Australia. Whether they go on to be lifesavers or not, there are hundreds of thousands of Nippers and ex-Nippers out there who know how to keep themselves, and others, out of strife. Killcare Nippers fires up this Sunday with the preliminary swim evals at PLC Woy Woy, then we're on the beach from the 18th, and it's not too late to be a part of it. You can register online or contact Emily at [email protected] for more details.

24.01.2022 The beach might be closed but there's still time to get onto HG Nelson's 'Farewell to Summer Sale' with a bargain from Table of Takeaway. Books you never knew existed. Lost CDs. Tools, kitchen items, art works and posters. All priced to clear, as in free, with a donation to the Club. Ask nicely and he might even make it priceless with a scribble. Thanks so much Greig & Kate!

23.01.2022 We're not superheroes, we're just ordinary people from all walks of life. But we do have superpowers, and you can get them too. We drive boats in the surf, pluck people out of danger, we fly (drones at least) and we can bring people back to life. And we get to do it while hanging out with a great bunch of people and helping the community at the same time. Want some superpowers of your own? Come to Killcare SLSC on the 13th of September from 10am and we'll tell you how can get your Mystic Amulet from the.. sorry, Bronze Medallion and become a lifesaver.

19.01.2022 Some sad news to pass on... Kay, the matriarch of the Stevenson clan, wife of David, mother of Andrew, mother-in-law to Kathryn and grandmother to Ewan, Lochlan and Angus, passed away on Sunday at home surrounded by those she loved and those that loved her. The Stevenson's are pillars of the Club putting in countless hours through 3 generations over many, many years and Kay was the constant, lovely, guiding presence behind them all. David, Andy, Kathryn, Angus, Lochlan & Ewa...n, we're thinking of you all and share your loss. Club Chaplain Stephen Hinks will be leading the funeral service this Friday at 2pm at Greenway Green Point. Vale Kay.

15.01.2022 Here's an update from one of our great club sponsors - Belle Property Killcare property market thriving amid COVID-19 Belle Property Central Coast has been busy keeping the Killcare property market pumping during the pandemic, protecting house prices with some huge sales, including the highest ever price achieved in the region.... It is clear that Sydney buyers are still seeing value in the area. Principal Cathy Baker said that she is working with highly qualified buyers who are still looking for homes to purchase. With a huge change and uplift in the Killcare market there has never been a better time to get an update on your property. If you’re curious about the value of your home, it only takes 15 minutes to arrange a property appraisal, so please feel free contact Belle Property Central Coast on 4360171. With the majority of Cathy’s top sales coming from holiday house buyers, Killcare is a hot spot for holidaymakers. Now would also be a great time to consider renting out your home through Belle Escapes before the start of Christmas and school holidays. Two dedicated staff Rose Mackay and Claire O’Malley are committed to enhancing guest experience, with someone available on the phone to talk to seven days a week. An integral part of the Belle Property Central Coast business, the girls can organise a range of services for clients, from retreat-style yoga and massages to food hampers, private chefs, babysitting, boat hire, helicopter services, fitness trainers the sky’s the limit. On top of working hard to sell property and rent out holiday houses, Cathy Baker is also excited to announce the launch of Central Coast Life and Style magazine, a sensational new local venture that she has designed to support and propel forward an emerging lifestyle shift on the Central Coast. Available to pick up in shops and cafes from October 3rd 2020, the magazine will launch with some fanfare at a private function (limited in numbers due to COVID) that will involve a live performance from The Voice finalist Johnny Manuel. The event will mark the start of a 12 week promotional campaign that involves giveaways, including a free weekend in an exclusive Belle Escapes holiday house, so make sure you pick up a copy. In a post-pandemic world where people are more inclined to work from home or travel domestically, there is now even more opportunity for the region to flourish, with Sydneysiders moving here or holidaying here regularly. Central Coast Life and Style has been designed as a beautiful visual platform to showcase these exciting changes, propelling forward the lifestyle shift that has already started happening here on the Central Coast. 15.01.2022 It's a beautiful day for sips this afternoon. Come on down from 3pm to raise a glass to Wadey.

14.01.2022 Hi everyone, The NSW Government has just announced a reduction to outdoor gatherings from 100 to 50. That unfortunately makes running our outdoor cinema unviable and compliance in such an open area just too tricky for our volunteers. So at this stage, we've taken the hard decision to cancel. If things change (favourably) we may go ahead with some or all later in January, but as it stands we're off for the season. ... Anyone who has bought tickets will be contacted about refunds soon.

13.01.2022 #flagsupslscc Meet Tom... not that long ago, Tom was an U9 Killcare Nipper, today he's one of our most accomplished lifesavers with Silver Medallions in beach management, IRB and aquatic rescue along with a slew of other superpowers since he got his 'Surf Aware' certificate 10 years ago. Today he has the honour of officially captaining his first patrol and our first patrol of the season with flags up right across NSW. Remember, swim between the flags and keep a towel length between your group and others. It's never to early, or too late, to start gathering your superpowers - we'll be doing registrations at the Club from 2pm tomorrow (Sunday 27) for all ages and Nippers starts October 11... bring on Summer!

12.01.2022 Surf Club Bar Open everyday this week 12-2pm. Pachamana serving delicious food too!

12.01.2022 He doesn't think he's a superhero, he's just a regular guy with a head for numbers. But to the family of the boy whose life he saved, him and his patrol are real-life Avengers, and it feels pretty good. All thanks to the superpowers he gained doing his Bronze Medallion at Killcare SLSC. When was the last time you had that feeling? If you want to know how to defy the ocean, bring people back to life and maybe be someone's hero, we can teach you. If you can swim 400m in 9 minutes, leave the rest to us. Hoist Mjølnir to the heavens in defiance of Loki... sorry, come down the the Club on the 13th from 10am and we'll get you started.

12.01.2022 That quiet kid a couple of rows behind you in maths? Yeah, she's got superpowers. And you can get them too. She's not a superhero, but she can conquer the ocean, pluck people from certain doom and bring dead people back to life. When she speaks, adults listen and do what she says, and it doesn't look half bad on a resume. All while hanging out with a great bunch of people and having heaps of fun. Don't worry if you've never been a 'clubbie', if you can extract the ancient sword from the enchanted rock of... sorry, swim 400m in 9 minutes and you'll be 16 before mid-December, we'll teach you the rest. Come and have a chat at Killcare SLSC from 10am on the 13th of September and we'll get you started.

12.01.2022 Another spectacular day on Killcare Beach! Please remember to swim between the flags, listen to the lifesavers and keep a towel length (1.5m) between your group and others. And when you're done, the bar is open for Sunday Sips this afternoon from 4-7 with the rugba league on the big screen. Stay safe everyone!

09.01.2022 Training Update We will run Bronze Medallion, SRC and IRB courses prior to Christmas. So please encourage family and friends to look at the BM and SRC courses subject to numbers we are aiming to start all courses on the 18th October. The BM and SRC courses have been significantly refreshed with a better and clearer structure. There is a new Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue manual and this is now available online at a cost of $10 as an app through your smart phone or table...t. It will be automatically updated. We really need more IRB qualified members as drivers or crew and we would love to get you trained up in these important roles. We are looking at other training needs and opportunities. Courses are run across the Central Coast but we will always run courses if we have the numbers. A key focus will be first aid and in particular the Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Course. This competency is now required to administer oxygen. Stephen is also happy to discuss requalification requirements or currency status of your awards. Questions, suggestions, enrolments Contact Stephen at [email protected] or 0423 231 305 See more

09.01.2022 It was a tough decision but the weather's awful and taking a few factors into account it's been decided to postpone this afternoon's sips to next Sunday. From 4pm on the 2nd, bring some nibbles and come down and raise a glass to Wadey. Hope to see you then.

06.01.2022 Welcome to the world Jake Buddy Wassell! HUGEST of congrats and love to lifesavers and all-round great people Kristy & Sam Wassell who welcomed their son in the wee small hours of Saturday morning. No doubt you'll find him under the tent sometime soon, but by our calculations he'll be pulling on his red and yellow rookie shirt in the 2032/33 season We couldn't be happier for you Kristy, Sam & Buddy! Oh and Moose too.

06.01.2022 Mass rescue at Killcare... Patrol 6 helped a shiver (that's what the interwebs says a group of sharks is called?) of Port Jackson sharks out of the bogie hole yesterday, releasing them back into the ocean where they belong. Our primary concern is humans, but we care deeply for the overall environment of the beach we respect so much and it's great to help the wildlife where we can. Another awesome day ahead to round out the long weekend, remember to swim between the flags, li...sten to lifesavers directions (they only do it for your safety) and keep a towel length (1.5m) between your group and others. Have a great day everyone!

06.01.2022 The newly formed Surf Rider, Central Coast in conjunction with Surf Rider Australia would love to see as many surfers as we can at the Haven next Saturday for ...the 11am paddle out to protest PEP11. 05.01.2022 We had held out hope that we'd still be able to some sort of live presentation, but it just doesn't look like anything's going to change substantially anytime soon, so here it is folks - the Killcare SLSC 2019/20 Awards! https://www.killcaresurfclub.com.au//v/KSLSCAwards1920.mp4 A huge congratulations to all our winners and huge thanks to everyone who made the season, strange as it was, what it was.

05.01.2022 Donations directly to the Club are always welcome, go to killcaresurfclub.com.au and click the button on the top right, but The Surf Life Saving Foundation has just launched the Adopt an Hour campaign to raise funds. It's worth noting that they quote "On average each of our surf lifesavers donates 32 hours each"... Killcare patrollers are closer to double that at over 60 hours each on average, just sayin'...

04.01.2022 Don't forget.... The Annual General Meeting is on at 2pm this afternoon in the auditorium. After the AGM we'll be opening the bar and saying bon voyage to the Verns.... Come on down and get involved!

04.01.2022 GYM Re-opening 2 Sept. There will be a Covid-19 Marshall on Duty with set opening hours under the new guidelines. All members will need to sign in electronically and wipe down equipment after use.

03.01.2022 Due to the ongoing poor water quality and debris risk from the recent deluge, we've been ordered by Central Coast Council to close the beach this long weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday), along with Copacabana and Umina. Our lifesavers will be on duty in surveillance mode and will be rescue-ready, but the current advice is to stay out of the water. The flags will not be up. Sorry folks, it's going to be a nice weekend too!

02.01.2022 We have a new Community Connect Class on Wednesdays 10am. See flyer for more info.

02.01.2022 It was a beautiful send off for Wadey yesterday, huge thanks to his daughter Jacki, brother Derek and Bags for their tributes and to Stephen Hinks for leading the service. If you missed it it's available at https://iframe.dacast.com/b/163132/f/920594 With COVID restrictions, not everyone who would have loved to have been there could be so we'll be holding a special memorial sips this Sunday the 26th from 4pm. We'll unfortunately have some of the same issues with the restrictions and we'll be doing our best to manage it - we're limited to 40 in the auditorium and 20 on the balcony, but we'll figure it out one way or another.
