All patients are triaged by one of our experience registered nurses and assigned a triage assessment that may mean patients have to wait to be seen for non urgent further assessment and care. 16.01.2022 Kilmore District Health is committed to the ongoing reconciliation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. On February 13, 2008 then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a formal apology to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on behalf of the Federal Government. ‘For the pain, suffering and hurt of these Stolen Generations, their descendants and for their families left behind, we say sorry.’ In particular it included an apology to the Stolen Generations whose ...lives had and continue to be devastated by past government policies of Indigenous assimilation where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children were forcibly removed from their families and children. The Apology to the Stolen Generation remains a momentous turning point and is an important step towards building respectful new relationships between First Nations and other Australians. Understanding and acknowledging past wrongs and their continuous impact is crucial to building stronger relationships, which are at the heart of reconciliation - Ms Mundine Reconciliation Australia
