10.01.2022 We are passionate about our students having a voice and we use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to support this. This includes ongoing collaboration and consideration of how the student will access their system due their hearing and/or vision loss. Guided by the Roadmap of Communicative Competence (ROCC) we are able to assess, set goals and provide intervention to support autonomous communication. Some examples of AAC include Australian Sign Language (Ausla...n), communication systems such as Proloquo2Go, Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) and technology such as eye gaze or speech generating devices. We look forward to celebrating AAC not just this month, but every day at Kilparrin

05.01.2022 Today we celebrated National Book Week and dressed up as book characters for a whole school parade. Book Week is an important annual event that highlights the importance of literacy, something we work on each day!

02.01.2022 This week we celebrate National Week of Deaf People (NWDP) and International Day of Sign Languages (Wednesday 23rd)! To mark the occasion RIDBC's Auslan Tutor can be found FREE for a limited time! This is a great video-based Australian Sign Language (Auslan) teaching application!
