25.01.2022 The John Taylor Change in Aboriginal Social Indicators in the East Kimberley 2001 - 2016 report should be DEEPLY concerning to all Kimberley Aboriginal people. There is an URGENT need to stand unified as Aboriginal people to advocate for reform to address these shocking outcomes so we can preserve our Culture and future.

16.01.2022 This baby Boab lives on Miriwoong Country, but when he heard all the Ngarringgas excited chatter about an event on Jaru Country, he jumped on the back of a Ute and took a cruise down to Halls Creek, to see what all the fuss was about.... When he arrived, he got dressed up with fairy lights (more than in this picture) and twinkled all night long, excited to be part of the action! Maybe he was swaying too when a Walmajarri musician pulled her guitar out and sang a few tunes.... Thanks Paige and East Kimberley Job Pathways for supporting our event .

13.01.2022 At our event last week, there was a lot happening, including a lot of LAUGHING, and since a merry heart does good like medicine, that was a special part of our camp. The atmosphere was relaxed and included time for everyone to connect and reflect, and use the camp as an opportunity to refresh themselves from relentless community and family responsibilities. So important. Thankyou to our participants for caring for one another so beautifully during our camp . Remember our sessions about self care to maintain your strength in community leadership and business operations.
13.01.2022 This is a picture of our Aunty Daisy with her Great Grand Daughter, Audrey , taken at our Aboriginal Leaders and Women in Business camp recently. Aunty Daisy is a Nyawajarri Skin woman. Nyawajarri skin have Nyawurru skin daughters, Nyawurru skin have Nangari skin daughters . And Nangari skins have Nangala daughters. Then Nangala skin has Nyawajarri daughters. The cycle completes itself after 4 generations, and repeats itself.... Although baby Nangala Audrey is the Great Grand Daughter , she is also the little mummy to her Great Grand Mother because she now possesses the Skin of her Great Grandmas own mother . This is an ancient Skin Group system that completely governed and ruled Aboriginal society throughout the Kimberley , prior to colonisation. How precious is this picture ?

This report and its findings was a significant piece of work and should be regarded as extremely important data that can help Kimberley Aboriginal people predict the future . It can be used to help us cr...eate Social change and reform. This matter is URGENT and needs support. For a copy of the full and final report , please email [email protected] Please contact us also if you wish to discuss in detail.

06.01.2022 Whats this ? Well, at our Aboriginal Leaders and Women in Business camp, we had porta showers set up for campers . By using a pump and generator, our maintenance crew extracted water from Caroline Pool, fed it into a 44 Gallon drum and heated it by open fire, so we had HOT running water. Massive thanks to Chris Garstone and team at Yura Yungi Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation, for setting up an incredible camp site for us. It was perfect.

04.01.2022 Yura Yungi staff Maureen Omeara and Rosemary Yaloot hosted our social emotional well-being sessions each afternoon at camp and did an awesome job of engaging participants. Taking care of yourself is essential when youre in leadership or business, and we all need to take time out to refresh ourselves. What better place than around a campfire, on some beautiful country to take a break and share our stories.
04.01.2022 What were some of the quotes from our deadly EK Women who attended camp ? Camp was deadly, we loved it All the women getting together and hearing that people have done things to achieve their business dreams... We loved listening to Cissy and her story, she is a very clever woman and brave. It got me thinking you just need to do it (your business) and if you dont know what to do, call someone, ask for help and learn what is the next step. Leaders need to talk and also to take action and do what you say you are going to do It was really interesting, meeting people, and having women from all over the east Kimberley. It was great to see a new country and meet people from that country. Sharing stories helped me think about what I am good at, and that we are not alone on this journey of business for our community I loved meeting all the women, hearing their stories and laughing, gave me strength to learn from others Thanks for such a great event and camp, we loved meeting everyone, listening and learning , and we left inspired by all the stories we had heard I was a bit unsure about the gathering, but after arriving I was blown away, just too deadly ! Thanks everyone for coming and supporting this event. Photo credit : Priscilla Kelly
