25.01.2022 This week is National Volunteer Week and to celebrate, the WALGA RoadWise team is joining the national #WaveForVolunteers campaign by sending a wave to members ...of our 6500-strong road safety network across WA. The theme for National Road Safety Week 2020 is Changing Communities. Changing Lives and this theme definitely applies to our network of volunteers who work each day to help prevent road trauma. WALGAs RoadWise knows the value and importance of volunteer contributions to the road safety effort. Volunteers are dedicated, passionate and motivated, sharing both their knowledge and time to deliver initiatives to help make communities safer. We thank our network for changing communities and changing lives. Volunteering Australia Volunteering WA #NVW2020 #WaveForVolunteers

15.01.2022 ROADWORKS: Gus Winckel and Old Broome Road Intersection Upgrade Works are commencing on 28 April (Tuesday) to upgrade the intersection of Gus Winckel and ...Old Broome Road. This intersection was identified as a safety blackspot within the Shire, so works are commencing to address the safety risk. The project is jointly funded by the Federal Blackspot Program, the Broome International Airport and the Shire of Broome, and will see the construction of designated turning lanes and refuge islands along with an upgrade to pedestrian paths through the intersection. Construction will be staged to ensure Old Broome Road will remain open throughout the works, however access into and out of Gus Winckel Drive will be disrupted during the construction with airport access available through Jigal Drive. Traffic management will be in place during construction, and we appreciate in advance the care taken driving through the area. The works will be completed by local contractor McCorry Brown Earthmoving and are forecast to complete by the end of August.
