24.01.2022 If you heard about the horrific car accident in Seaford, this is the outcome. The loss of life of Rose Kelly. Rose was a much loved mum, a wife, a friend and a colleague. If you can open you hearts before Christmas to donate to this grieving family, I urge you to do so. All my love goes out to this beautiful family https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-the-family-of-rose-k

22.01.2022 Right now, we’re all facing the same storm, but we’re all doing so in different boats Some have yachts, others are in tinnies. Some have a substantial crew on ...board, others are rowing alone. Some have life jackets (higher resilience, stronger relationships, more optimism, use their strengths and more positivity), others don’t even have a working rudder... I have been using this boat analogy a lot this week (after hearing it from @janewundersitz) to explain why some people are handling the current crisis better than others.. We are not all in the same boat. We are all in the same storm. That summation of our current situation originally came from Damian Barr (the illustration is by Barbara Kelley), who suggested that some of us will sail through this pandemic with our health and jobs intact, yet others will lose one or both, or potentially more. So if you’re wondering why others are fairing better or worse than you at the moment, perhaps it’s worth considering what type of boat they are in.

21.01.2022 My Cacao Rough makes the most delicious Easter-inspired treats. These are the hazelnut version (think Nutella flavoured) and they suit pretty much every dietary... leaning - raw, vegan, paleo, gluten, dairy, grain-free. No dried fruit, low-fructose and takes just minutes to make. The Thermomix (and regular) method is included too. Head here to see the recipe https://wellnourished.com.au/cacao-rough/

21.01.2022 Carla operates Peninsula Herbal Dispensary from the Main Street in Victoria's gorgeous Mornington Peninsula. The dispensary has been recognised one of Australi...a's leading Naturopathic businesses - the six team members operate six days a week, and even offer a free acute care 'green pharmacy' style service. Their patients often come to them for heap with autoimmune diseases, mental health concerns and paediatric health. Her team worked hard to stay ahead of the early panic buying at the beginning of the first Victorian lockdown. Carla also introduced a home care initiative, which she and her husband rolled out only days before they had to close the brick-and-mortar dispensary. They took on 17-hour workdays to pack and deliver items their customers ordered online, and renovated their premises in the meantime. Carla says, we have had a laugh about the funny side of the last few months, and we learned a lot about not focusing on the fears and dreaming big, despite the sense of adversity. Carla also offered other small business owners some advice: i. Know your other small businesses, to learn about and share new ways of doing things and get a great network. ii. #golocalfirst and get yourself a switched-on accountant - hers has been a godsend to help navigate the new regulations and opportunities. iii. An amazing and supportive team goes a long way - Carla appreciates her own staff for putting in their all, and staying together through every challenge.

20.01.2022 I believe my job as a Naturopath is to look beyond the symptoms to the underlying cause. Wise words from our Naturopath Kimberley. 19.01.2022 IRON Thank you Metagenics for this infographic about one of my favorites - Iron. SO many of my patients are either deficient or borderline when it comes to their stored iron, known as ferritin. Some of the symptoms of low ferritin include;... - Fatigue - Breathlessness - Low mood - Muscle weakness - Dizziness - Frequent infection - Poor Concentration Did you know that pathology centres have now changed ferritin reference ranges from 15-165 to 30-500. So if you were told that your iron stores are fine at 15 or 16, they would now be considered deficient based on current evidence/scientific studies. When was the last time you had you iron checked?

19.01.2022 Yes, they do taste awful! But heres a great explanation why I prescribe herbal tonics to so many of my patients

16.01.2022 8 weeks on and we are all missing Peninsula Herbal Dispensary. Lets hope its not too long before we can all get back to our beautiful space

12.01.2022 ISO banana bread (GF/DF/Vegan option) Well it took me a while but I finally jumped on the banana bread bandwagon. I bought a box of bananas from Henrys in Mornington ($5!) last week so we have heaps on hand to experiment with. ... I'm a throw-it-in-and-hope-for-the-best kind of cook these days, but I was feeling hopeful so I wrote down the recipe to share. This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, processed sugar free and although not overly sweet is delicious. If you are after a vegan option you can substitute the eggs with chia/flax 'eggs'. Combine; 3 large bananas mashed (or 6 small) 2 eggs 1/2 cup oil (coconut/rice bran) 1/4 cup honey/rice bran syrup/maple syrup Add; 1 cup almond meal 1 cup buckwheat flour 1 heaped tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda 2 tsp ground cinnamon 2 tsp chia seeds Mix until combined, pour into a lined tin and bake at 170C for 50-60 mins (mine took 60 mins but check at 50 just in case) Enjoy

10.01.2022 Too beautiful not to share. Please feel free to tag someone who might need to hear this today

07.01.2022 At 6am on ANZAC Day musicians everywhere are being called on to take to their front yards to play the Last Post. A grassroots campaign for Australians to comme...morate Anzac Day at dawn in their driveways is gathering momentum across the country. With traditional services and marches cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, RSL branches in every state have unanimously endorsed the gesture, with families across the nation expected to stand at their gates, on balconies or verandahs at 6am on Saturday April 25. Please join us and the rest of Australia in this special moment to remember all those who have served and sacrificed for this nation. We may not be able to stand together as we usually would, but we can still stand united in spirit. Anyone interested should download the sheet music, start practising and notify their neighbourhood via a letterbox drop. http://musicformateship.org/ #MusicforMateship #ANZACDAY #drivewaytribute #lastpost #Minutesilence #COVID19 #isolatedbutunited
