25.01.2022 Day 3 of our 7 day Tag-along tour. We departed Wyndham Caravan Park after a light breakfast and a cool dip in the pool. We made our way out along the King River Road and were delighted to see so much water around. We lost count of the number of water crossings! ... We pulled up at the prison Boab tree and it never ceases to amaze those who visit. Estimated at 1200-1500 years old, imagine the stories it could tell. We crossed the freshwater once again and pulled up for morning tea in the shade of another stunning Boab. We admired the local rock art gallery before once again hitting the dirt, back to the highway. Half an hour up the road and the Grotto was calling us in for a swim. Beautiful as always, we found it hard to leave! Refreshing as it was, we had somewhere special to be. We were off again, with the stunning El Questro as our destination. And we were in for a true Kimberley experience. April 5th was opening day at El Questro for the tourist season. And we were fortunate to be a part of the Welcome to country ceremony. The Traditional owners of the land performed a smoking, a ceremony which welcomes visitors and provides them safe passage on their country. It is a must do for outsiders, new staff and visitors alike. It is a moving experience and a real privilege to be a part of. Thanks to my partner Sally and family for welcoming us

21.01.2022 Im pretty chuffed to announce that as of Thursday 11th June, Kimberley 4x4 Tours is now Quality Tourism Accredited, with the Australian Tourism Industry Council. Countless hours, minutes and days have been spent on the computer, on the phone, in meetings, attending business workshops, planning, researching, stressing, bugger this Im going fishing moments where I wanted to forget about it. But I persisted and Im glad I did. ... And I have a lot of people to thank who have helped me achieve this. My incredible partner Sally Martin without your encouragement and unwavering support, I most likely would have given up. Thank you babe for believing in me xo I love you And all the business advisors, lecturers, fellow tour guides and people Ive met along the way. You have all helped shape me and believed in me, even if at times, I didnt. Thank you for pushing me in the right direction. I have faced some dark days during my time in the Kimberley region over the 8 years I have called it home. But Ive never felt more accepted or at peace as I do in this place. The Kimberley region really is like no other. And I am more determined than ever to make it my forever home. We are busy planning new experiences for 2021 and beyond. 19.01.2022 Our 7 day Tag-along tour of the East Kimberley kicked off on Saturday morning 03/04/21. Day 1. We departed Kununurra around 8:30am and headed out to a few local waterholes. ... We aired down, hit the dirt and before long were wheel deep in the freshwater, courtesy of the Kimberley wet season We crossed several seasonal washouts before arriving at our first real waterhole. Still flowing well after the recent rains, we enjoyed a refreshing dip in the cool waters before a hearty morning tea in the shade of a Boab tree. Before long we reached our 2nd waterhole and what a beauty she is! Over 70 metres high, it is impressive to say the least. And the water temperature was just perfect. A little chilly for some We ventured back to the highway, after a quick lunch stop by a creek, bound for Wyndham, Western Australia. We yarned with a few locals and found a picture perfect campsite on the banks of the Ord River. The mosquito's were very friendly, so a quick dinner and it was lights out quite early. But we awoke to a stunning East Kimberley sunrise and knew we were in for another great day! Miriwoong and Gajirrabeng country

14.01.2022 Day 2 of our 7 day Tag-along tour: We awoke to a stunning sunrise and fewer mozzies than the night before, thank goodness We broke camp after a delicious breakfast and made our way to nearby Telegraph Hill. ... Used as a communications outpost for assisting ships entering Wyndham port from 1914 - 1921, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding floodplains and ranges. We wandered through the remaining foundations of the buildings which housed the workers and wondered what life must have been like during that time. We picked up a fresh boab nut, recently fallen from above. We tasted the fruit as we made our way around the 800 metre walking trail. We drove down to get a closer look at the wetlands below and admired the bird life on Marlgu billabong. Just stunning We took pictures, we left wheel tracks and footprints behind. We backtracked a few kilometres to visit Parry Creek Farm for morning tea. And we were glad we did!! Fresh chocolate brownie and cheesecake were on the menu, and the coffee was delicious We wandered around the property and yarned with the owners about the wet season and how beautiful the grounds looked. They really made us feel welcome. Thanks again for having us Anne and Terry With full bellies and smiles from ear to ear, we hit the dirt track once again, bound for Wyndham town. We enjoyed a late lunch, high on the Bastion or 5 Rivers lookout, looking out over the Wyndham Port. One last stop before finding camp. We visited the Warriu Dreamtime statues. Modelled on 3 local indigenous Wyndham community members, they are a sight to behold. As the afternoon was getting away, we decided to camp in style, away from the mosquitos and pulled in to the Wyndham Caravan park. We set up camp, enjoyed a refreshing shower and shared a light meal for dinner. Lights out by 7:30pm. What a day it had been. And to our delight, very few mozzies Day 3 tomorrow and more adventures in store! RedSands Campers are built for this stuff!

14.01.2022 Sunday Fun-day in the East Kimberley region. We started early. Coffees at Kimberleyland Waterfront Holiday Park Spilled the Beans ... We hit the highway, then aired down to tackle the dirt. We drove to a local waterhole. We hiked, we swam, we hydrated. We took pretty pictures. We marvelled at nature We hiked some more. We found a bower bird nest. Cool! Found more waterholes. Some beautiful spots. We swam some more. Took more photos. Drank the freshwater. We hiked back. We ate, we hydrated again. 06.01.2022 Day 7 of our recent 7 day Tag-along tour in the East Kimberley. We woke to the sound of birds chirping overhead and the beautiful filtered light shining through the swag. After another hearty breakfast and a freshly brewed coffee, yes folks, we were doing it tough we headed to the nearby creek for a freshwater wash. ... Phil and I had one thing on our minds and we grabbed the tackle bag and rod and headed upstream, a short distance from camp. It didn't take long before Phil hooked a nice Barramundi! We didn't measure any this time as they all went back in the water. 5 Barra in about half an hour and 1 black bream and 1 big eye, all safely released. Plenty of excitement and smiles that morning! But we had to get moving, as we had one last stop before making our way back to Kununurra. We packed up our camp, back on the track to the highway and headed to a popular waterhole, en route to town. We enjoyed a late morning dip in the cool waters and a delicious lunch in the shade of a woolybutt. We recounted the last seven days and wished we had another seven to go! What a week it was! From menacing mosquito's to mouthwatering Mangrove jack, we certainly made the most of our time in the East Kimberley. And we can't wait to do it all over again. 06.01.2022 Sorry folks, we were off-grid last night. Here is Day 5 of our 7 day Tag-along tour. We packed up camp around 8am, in no real rush to depart El Questro ... But we had one last stop before heading back along the Gibb River Road. Zebedee Springs was beckoning! A thermal spring on the drive back out, we couldn't pass by without a dip We spent nearly an hour there, soaking in the warm waters and taking in the stunning scenery around us. Massive Livistona palms soared nearly 20 metres overhead and provided enough shade, like giant umbrellas as we splashed below. We left feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead. We drove down to the Pentecost River crossing and along its Eastern banks. We found a cracker of a spot for morning tea and we couldn't resist the opportunity to wet a line! Several casts later and we were rewarded with lunch! A 43cm Mangrove jack came to the party!! You beauty! We cooked some rice, fried the fish in the pan and ate like Kings and Queen It doesn't get any fresher folks. The heat of the day was upon us, so we packed the vehicles and parked up at the crossing. We splashed in the shallows and cooled off, before hopping back in the 4wds and cutting a track. We did pull up for a few snaps of the Cockburn Ranges on the Gibb, as you do. Simply breathtaking RedSands Campers Back on track, our destination was Doon Doon Caravan Park, down the highway towards Halls Creek. We arrived mid afternoon, set up for the night and enjoyed a camp oven roast pork with all the trimmings! Yum! We were joined by John and Manny, two local blokes from Woolah Community, behind the Doon Doon Caravan Park. The lads have recently started operating Tag-along 4wd tours, Ringers4WD The next day we would be travelling with them as our guides. John and Manny are Traditional owners of the surrounding country and we were privileged to be joining them for the day. 04.01.2022 Day 4 of our 7 day Tag-along tour of the East Kimberley. We were still buzzing from the previous evening and it had nothing to do with the very few mosquitos around We were still on a high and feeling great after the Welcome to country the afternoon prior. It really set the mood for our stay at El Questro ... This morning though, we had our sights on El Q Gorge. One of my absolute favourites on the property and in the East Kimberley region. We hit the dirt road and before long were in low range and crossing a creek, with only the grader tracks in front of us, we didn't see another 4wd in sight It wasn't my first Rodeo folks, I knew what we were in for. But my guests had no idea! And they thoroughly enjoyed it! We parked the Troopy in the shade of the empty car park and began our hike to Half-way pool. Crystal clear water, towering palm trees and stunning escarpments met us as we entered the gorge. The temperature dropped to our delight as we waded through the deeper sections of creek, climbing over rocks as we navigated the path. We admired the sacred country around us and were all in awe of the beauty we witnessed. We swam in the cool waters and chatted with other hikers that eventually came by. Everyone had the same smile from ear to ear and clearly were full of wonder as we were. Such a beautiful place and so grateful we are for the experience. And with very few visitors, we timed our visit well. We headed back along the path, refreshed and with an appetite. We made the return trip to the station and enjoyed a delicious lunch at the new outdoor dining area. The fish and chips hit the spot! The afternoon was spent in the shade of the white gums and cooling off in the waterhole 50 metres from our camp. Yes folks, we were doing it tough! At 4pm we set off for golden hour to Saddleback Ridge. A steep 4wd track just a few minutes from camp. Perched high above the station, we had uninterrupted 360 degree views of the surrounding landscape. We enjoyed a sundowner and the sunset was as beautiful as ever We made the return trip to camp and collected a little firewood on our way. We cooked over the fire and enjoyed a hearty meal as we recounted the day's events. Everyone retired early and the sound of running water in the nearby creek made for a peaceful sleep. What would tomorrow bring I wondered?
