23.01.2022 The year 12 Literature students had a great time saying goodbye to a cultural icon - Sizzler. As part of the Literature course they are exploring language and culture, and how this is shaped by food. Mrs Smith said it was great to share a meal with such an awesome group of kids.

20.01.2022 Our first Premier Basketball game was held yesterday. Kimberley College vs Windaroo Valley State High School. It was a close game, with the KC team coming out vistors 49 - 44. Well done team, what a great result for your first Term 3 game!

19.01.2022 Last week we held our Secondary School Athletics Carnival at The Sports Super Centre, Runaway Bay. It was a great success and a fun day for all who attended. Whilst the day can sometimes be long with lengthy pauses or intervals, sometimes it is necessary to entertain the crowds. Senior student Callum Redaouia took on this challenge when asked if he thought he could jump over one of our other students - Chloe Frost (with the pink bow). Challenge accepted and easily achieved - Great effort Callum!

19.01.2022 Friendly Match KCFA vs JPC Football On Thursday 13th of August, Kimberley College Football Academy played John Paul College in friendly matches in our U14 and U...19 boys age groups. Some exciting and free-flowing football was played by both teams with lots of goals being scored by both colleges. Both KC teams held possession well and created fantastic goal-scoring opportunities putting immense pressure on their opponent. In the U14 boys game, KC came out winners with lots of goals both teams and our U19 boys side dominant first-half performance saw them hit half time with the scoreline lots goals before JPC made a vast improvement in the second half and finishing win to Kimberley College. 19.01.2022 Congratulations to our Kimberley College Golf Academy students Anand McCullum, Lachlan Preo, Lilli Dunn and Tomas Pritchard who have been busy competing in inter-club junior pennants competitions on week-ends. All students have had great success and have enjoyed the challenge of competing against other high level junior golfers.

18.01.2022 Last Friday was our Superhero Free Dress day organised by our Student Council representatives. It was a great day where the students and staff all had a lot of fun. You could feel the superhero vibe around the school. Here a couple of quick pics from the day.

18.01.2022 Year 12 Visual Art students just completed their last practical project. Individually, they painted a jigsaw puzzle piece which represented their choice of media and subject matter. The outcome has turned out to be a colourful and impressive composition which is currently being displayed in the College Boardroom. Ms Roya would like to thank Mr Walker, our Design and Manual Art teacher, for cutting out the puzzle pieces.

These VET students get to choose from a wide range of certificate and diploma courses, as well as traineeships and apprenticeships. Kimberley College also offers a range of TAFE at School qualifications. The great thing about a TAFE at School qualification is that it fits around the students studies and helps them to kick start their career sooner. 09.01.2022 Mr Wright and the grade 11 students are half way through the plant production unit for Agriculture. They are constructing and establishing garden beds. The students will be planting seedlings and seeds to ascertain growth rates between the different soil types and fertilisers. The produce will be looking at paddock to plate with the hospitality subject a focus of the plant production.

Regretfully, testing of the release information rolled out into our live production space which issued ATAR notifications to 24 000 Queensland Year 12 students. ... As there is no data currently in the system, students may have received a notification that they are ATAR ineligible. QTAC CEO Dr John Griffiths says QTAC acknowledges this technical error and deeply apologises to our Year 12 cohort, this has no doubt caused additional anxiety during what has already been a trying year for our school community. Dr Griffiths added, We receive the Year 12 result file from the QCAA on Monday, which is when the actual calculation of the Queensland ATAR begins, we are on track for official release on Saturday 19 December Below is the timeline of events for the next seven days. 03.01.2022 Our Year 11 Visual Art students are currently exploring the concept of Art as Code to learn how visual language is capable of expressing complex ideas. These experimental pieces focus on Abstracted Land. Students investigated natural landscapes that present colourful abstracted imagery through colour and pattern. They used innovative mark-making and unconventional approaches such as hands, sticks, smearing, layering, gouging etc. to create these pieces. The outcomes are very creative and colourful!

03.01.2022 URGENT UPDATE REGARDING SCHOOL LOCKDOWN REQUIREMENTS We have been notified by Queensland Health that an isolated area of our admin building was visited by a COVID positive case on Fri the 26th between 9.30am and 9.45am. This person did not have any symptoms then and were not aware that they had COVID.... They have identified one close contact at the school who has been tested today and will be quarantined for 14 days. The risk to the school is extremely low, however as an extra precaution, they have recommended that the school be closed for students of essential worker families and staff for the next 48hrs. If you were intending on sending your child/ren tomorrow because you or your family members are essential workers we are sorry for the inconvenience that the closing of the school may cause. We will keep you updated as soon as we have further updates.
