25.01.2022 We had a great morning down at the The Fitzroy River: Lifeblood of the Kimberley exhibition at the Scarborough Library today, chatting to Scarborough MP Liza Harvey about the mighty Fitzroy River and the need to protect it. Due to its popularity, the library has also decided to extend the exhibition for another week, which means even more time to experience the stunning photos of the Fitzroy River and the seven-metre life-size freshwater sawfish art installation

25.01.2022 "In the Kimberley it is impossible to ignore the reality that water is life, and across the great plains, inland through to the hill country and catchment, this enduring connection and deeply spiritual interdependence of water and life draws together endlessly unique species, all converging along the mighty Martuwarra (Fitzroy River)." Read Nyikina Warrwa and Wangkumara Barkindji woman Marlikka Perdrisat's thoughts on understanding the importance of First Law.

20.01.2022 A discussion paper has been released which could decide the future of the Fitzroy River. 19.01.2022 Our stunning Kimberley coast is in the news again! New research by The Pew Charitable Trusts has revealed that Kimberley corals are some of the most resilient and diverse in the world! There is amazing work being done in the Kimberley to protect, manage and understand these corals with a collaboration of culture and science by Aboriginal rangers from Bardi Jawi, researchers from Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and out of the Kimberley Marine Research Station at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm!

18.01.2022 The future of the Fitzroy River is at a turning point. This wild and free river is under threat and soon a decision may be made which could change the river forever. We’ve seen what happened to the Murray Darling when irrigation was allowed we now have the chance to stop another disaster before it’s too late.... 14.01.2022 The Fitzroy River is flowing wild and free after a bumper wet season, but in a few months a decision will be made that could risk the future of the Fitzroy forever. The WA Government will decide whether to allow huge amounts of water to be pumped from the river, potentially destroying this unique river system. Send a message to the WA Govt that you don't support taking water from the Mighty Martuwarra Fitzroy River here: likenowhereelse.org.au/water_paper... : Damian Kelly Photography

04.01.2022 The Fitzroy River is the last stronghold for the critically endangered freshwater sawfish. Proposals to extract water from the river will impact all those who rely on the Fitzroy, including the sawfish. The health of the Fitzroy River is vital to the survival of the sawfish as it provides a nursery for the species, protecting juveniles until they are strong enough to migrate from the river, through the King Sound and into the ocean.... Flood waters aren’t wasted, but in-fact are the lifeblood of Outback landscapes and the adjacent coastal seas
