25.01.2022 Virtual Tour - 16 Day Jewels of the West Coast Tour Day 12: Explore Monkey Mia After a glorious sunrise over the tranquil waters of Disappointment Reach, you will be ready to enjoy one of Australias best known up-close wildlife experiences. Here you can stand within metres of wild bottlenose dolphins visiting the shores every morning. These dolphins are wild animals that come to the beach at their own free will (generally in the morning), and Parks and Wildlife Service staff... will hand out a limited number of fish to people standing in the shallows, which are then offered to the dolphins. They belong to a much larger group of about 300 dolphins that live further out in the bay. Enjoy a catamaran sailing adventure in Shark Bay Marine Park, keeping an eye out for the bays precious marine life including dugongs, dolphins, sharks and huge sea turtles. Spend the afternoon at your leisure, where you may wish to take an easy three-kilometre, walking trail that meanders across the coastal dunes behind Monkey Mia to the red sand hills and a lookout over the bay, a historic gravesite, bird hide, an Aboriginal shelter cave and a quiet beach. Continuing our journey southwards, embark on the not to be missed short stroll along the elevated board walk at Eagle Bluff offering impressive views over the sparkling waters of Freycin...et Inlet. A little further south we make a brief stop at Shell Beach where you can walk and marvel at the seemingly endless white stretch of beach composed of billions of shells. The countless tiny white shells have formed the amazing beach, which stretches for 60 kilometres with some deposits are as much as ten metres deep. We stop at the Hamelin Pool Marine Nature Reserve and visit the historic Old Telegraph Station which remained in use until 1978. A suspended walkway on the huge granite outcrop of Castle Rock. The two lookouts give spectacular views across the park and undulating farmland to Albany on the south coast, Mt Gardner and Mt Manypeaks to the south-east and the Stirling Range to the north. The two kilometre ...walk up from the Castle Rock picnic area passes through jarrah, marri and karri forest and by Balancing Rock to reach the base of Castle Rock. Making our way through the stunning Stirling Ranges where Bluff Knoll is located at 1098m above sea level, at the highest and most spectacular peak in the South West where there is an abundant wildflowers, birdlife, reptiles, exceptional scenery and views of the Stirling Ranges and geological formations. Next stop, Wave Rock. A natural rock formation that is shaped like a tall breaking ocean wave. The wave is about 15 m high and around 110 m long. It forms the north side of a solitary hill, which is known as Hyden Rock. We embark on a sunset walk around the rock as we watch the colours change with the sun setting before settling into our accommodation. 20.01.2022 Virtual Tour - 9 Day Taste of the Kimberley Tour Day 9: Tunnel Creek - Windjana Gorge - Broome Leaving for an early start we explore more of the Napier Range with our first stop at Tunnel Creek, Western Australiaa oldest cave system and is famous as a hideout used late last century by the Aboriginal leader Jandamarra. He was killed outside its entrance in 1897. Enjoy a guided walk through the tunnel to the other side of the Napier Range, underground for 750 metres and wading... through several permanent pools and return the same way. Our next stop, Windjana Gorge, with its water-streaked walls that rise majestically to heights of 100 metres. The Lennard River runs through Windjana Gorge in wet weather, but forms pools surrounded by trees and shrubs during the dry season. The 3.5km long gorge cuts through Napier Range: part of the ancient Devonian limestone reef that can also be seen at Geikie Gorge and Tunnel Creek. Freshwater crocodiles bask in the pools, while fruit bats and corellas roost in the waterside trees. Our next stop is the delightful Rest Point at Walpole with ...its old world English charm and tranquil beauty. 16.01.2022 Virtual Tour - 16 Day Jewels of the West Coast Tour Day 8: Exmouth After breakfast, we rejoin the Northwest Coastal Highway and head to Exmouth where we will discover the eastern side of the Cape Range National Park, with its rugged limestone ranges, breath taking deep canyons on the Exmouth Peninsula and views to Exmouth Gulf. The Gulf is well known for its delicious jumbo prawns and hosts a lucrative prawn fishery.... We detour off the highway on Charles Knife Canyon drive that takes us on a steep winding road up to the top of the range. Located at the top is a lookout that has spectacular views into the canyons, so reminiscent of the more famous bigger brothers in the USA and seawards to Exmouth Gulf to the east. Colourful rock layers can be seen on the canyon walls far below. On top of the range we will visit the historical Wapet Oil Well No. 3 site where oil was first discovered in Australia. Heading up to The Range where you will see an abundance of plants and wildflowers, many unique to the region. There are also many scenic spots and lookouts with plenty of wildlife, kangaroos, emus, and mallee fowl are never f...ar away. With a short drive through Hopetoun, we arrive at Fitzgerald National Park, a botanical wonderland renowned for its rugged and spectacular scenery. The Fitzgerald River National Park is one of the larger national parks in Western Australia. It has 330,000 hectares of unspoiled wilderness located on one of the most magnificent stretches of Australian coast. Following along the coast line, we end up at a surreal sight; the pink lake which neighbours the dark blue waters of the Indian Ocean, with a strip of lush green forest acting as a barrier. From here we take the Esperance’s Great Ocean Drive, a 40 kilometre circular loop exploring features a vast range of coastal elements such as stunning beaches, rocky headlands, small bays, steep cliffs and hidden ocean pools.
