16.01.2022 Today is World Food Day and OzHarvest wants to show Aussies that tackling climate change can start with your plate! So many of us are experiencing ‘eco-anxiety’ and feel helpless in the battle to protect the planet, but reducing food waste is where we can all make a difference every day The amount of food we waste is hard to visualise as once it goes in the bin it’s out of sight and out of mind, which leads us to think we don’t actually waste that much. So OzHarvest thought t...hey’d put food waste front and centre by showing the amount of food we waste as individuals each year a staggering 298 kg per person! Cutting back on our individual food waste is the single most powerful way we can take direct action against climate change. It’s an easy win, both for your pocket and the planet. So from today, OzHarvest's new social media campaign will be asking people to say #countmein and share what small changes they will make to reduce their food waste at home or the office. Here at Kimberlin, Wednesdays are 'Team Cook Day'cook where each staff member takes a turn to prepare lunch for the team. We ensure no food is wasted, as we have Vegans and Vegetarians on the team - the meal is usually vegan and as it's prepared fresh there is no waste packaging. Please take the OzHarvest quiz to find out what type of food fighter you are at www.fightfoodwaste.org #countmein #worldfoodday #fightfoodwaste #takeaction

08.01.2022 Thursday has come around again, and so it's time for some more book recommendations from our Kimberlin Education team! This week our Education Manager, Courtney, is sharing two of her favourite books. The first book is 'Guess How Much I Love You' by Sam McBratney; Courtney has very fond memories from her own childhood of this delightful book and has enjoyed sharing it with her class many times! The second book is 'How To Catch A Star' by Oliver Jeffers; Courtney is a big Oliver Jeffers fan, and this book is one of her favourites. The best thing about this book is the sense of wonder and adventure which is reflected both in the book, and on children's faces as they read the story. We hope everyone had a magical Book Week, and stay tuned for next week when our Education Director, Naomi, will be sharing her two favourite books!

05.01.2022 I had the absolute pleasure of attending the NSW Australian of the Year Awards last evening in Sydney to support my Young Australian of the Year finalist mentee Holley Somerville Knott and to also show support for the amazing Kath Koshel who was a Local Hero finalist. The 4 category winners were so incredibly deserving and the judges must have had a very tough time judging all of the outstanding entries. There are so many Australians doing incredible things in our country and we celebrate them all. It was also exciting to meet and talk with previous Australian of the Year winner Eddie Woo an inspiring mathematics teacher, educator, father and proud Aussie. Cheers, Kylie #ausoftheyear #tellsomeonewhocares #aoty #aimforthestars #kimberlineducation #education
