05.01.2022 Useful insights into creating deep student-led collaborations - I especially liked this point: "CREATE LEARNING ACTIVITIES THAT ARE COMPLEX Students need a reason to collaborate. If the assignment is too simple, they can more easily do it alone. At most, they may check in with each other or interact in superficial ways. The real reason to collaborate is because the task is complexit is too difficult and has too many pieces to complete alone." The rationale behind STEM4Innovation assumes that the challenges will create this requisite complexity.
02.01.2022 This year I've transitioned out of higher education into the K-12 sector. I'm still in an innovation role, now with direct teaching responsibilities. after my first week I'm rediscovering how deeply rooted the status quo is in schools. I'm on the look out for engaging and challenging provocations to think differently about the precarious relationship between meaning learning and development, and that other process we call schooling. Would love your thoughts!... "This is so stressful, and messy The learning process usually is. Learning that sticks rarely follows a predictable and clearly linear pattern. Yes, it is tough to have to change the ways we work in our schools. It is tough not having the comfort of lessons that have been pre-planned for the myth of some average student. And if we wait until we are comfortable with the idea that change has become exponential and we must learn a new way of thinking in it: should our children wait? And, how long will the children have to wait?" #stem4innovation #innovation #learningfuturesnetwork #shapingedu https://myptoolbox.com//the-agile-learner-in-a-vuca-w/amp/
