24.01.2022 Most of us know we should get between 6 - 8 hours sleep a night, but does anyone actually do this? I know I don't! Sleep is so vital to our body's recovery, especially if we place it under high levels of stress such as training intensity, stress from work, home or anything. . . Last night I actually had nearly 8 hours sleep and I woke feeling so refreshed! My body definitely needed it! I've even been able to complete a solid workout this morning and still have the energy to g...o to work and do another 17000 steps (busy workplace!). . . 21.01.2022 From sewing face masks in the morning (for kids that don't even need it) to building our fence that was blown down in a tropical low a month ago, it has been an amazing weekend. Even better that I got to spend time with my Dad who is visiting for the weekend to help us build our fence. . . I have had an awesome 2 days but have to go back to reality tomorrow (Easter Sunday) with 1 day work then another day off. .... . 21.01.2022 Anyone else that skips end up going backwards Workout for this morning thanks to @btwbapp 90 skips... 30 kettlebell snatches Prescribed was 5 rounds however I had extra time and completed 7 rounds. Its good to see technique and see where I can improve. My snatches definitely have room for improvement however I will get there. 20.01.2022 It has been a Frickin. Hectic. Week. Between a sick 2.5 year old (mildly sick) which meant i couldn't work on 2 out of 3 of the busiest days of the year, and a child that broke his arm....again...almost 2 years after his first break in his other arm, I needed some down time. . . I've spent more time at the hospital than I ever want to again but take my hat off to all the staff that work there regardless of their role. They were all absolutely amazing and looked after us so w...ell. The follow up phone calls and keeping us in the loop was amazing when I'm sure they have so many other patients they need to look after. . . My down time was running. I set myself a goal this morning to run 5km in under 33 minutes. Its amazing what you can do when your mind is in the right place. Not only did I reach that goal, but also increased my speed. I used to sit at a speed of 9.3 on the treadmill. It was comfortable. Today I ran as fast as 10.5. I sat "comfortably" at 9.8. 19.01.2022 First workout of the year...what a workout! . . I have had a cold the last few days and thought I'd do a "light" workout to try and sweat the remaining crap out of my body. What better way to do it than with Murph! My time was slow AF (56.18min) but I completed it all the same...and am glad I did! .... . 14.01.2022 I really didn't feel like doing my workout today. We all have days like that. But I sucked it up and did it anyway. Glad I had a workout buddy to push me/compete against @smoknsteelbbq And an awesome coach who pushed me @jessica.atkinson.jigsaw and reminded me to breathe WOD:... 20 min AMRAP 200m run 20 burpees over box 30 kettlebell swings 40 cal assault bike Definitely had jelly legs after the bike going back into the runs. Am feeling amazing that I did it! Managed to get 2 rounds plus a 200m run. For those that know me well, know I have yo-yo dieted for a long time. But, with yo-yo dieting comes an increase in weight every time. . . One massive piece of advice I can give you - find something for you that is SUSTAINABLE for you and your lifestyle. 13.01.2022 Did you know we have muscles that are used as "acessory muscles" when we perform intense exercise. These accessory muscles help our diaphragm move up and down to assist our breathing. For instance, our scales muscles which help flex the neck, also assist in lifting the first and second ribs which help decrease pressure. Our pectorals major muscles help elevated the chest increasing the anteroposterior diameter. Our obliques help compress the abdominals which push the diaphr...agm down. This is true with your nutrition as well as your exercise. . . I've had a varied relationship with my nutrition however your mind is like a muscle, the more you work it, the stronger it gets. .... . 07.01.2022 That look when you have just completed (mostly completed) a tough WOD. This one was mostly upper body and I wasn't able to complete all sets. . . I'm not afraid to say I'm a strong girl and because of that, I think I can lift heavy weights in high repetition sets. Well, I should know better. Endurance training involves high repetitions with light weights. Ideally, you should aim for 50% of 1 repetition max. I did not do this. I decided to go 80% 1RM. Not a great idea .... . 06.01.2022 Workout done for the day. Beautiful early morning workout with that new shoe feeling! I always feel like I have more energy when I workout in new shoes! . . Doing a workout first thing in the morning means you don't have to worry about it for the rest of the day. It's done and dusted. It doesn't have to be a strenuous workout.
