18.01.2022 Want to know more about the Ipswich Hospital fever clinic? Every week, our fever clinic nurses are swabbing the noses and throats of hundreds of West Moreton r...esidents who meet the current testing criteria. This is how we find out who actually has coronavirus (COVID-19) so we can care for them and trace the people they have been in recent contact with. This is the best way to keep our community safe and slow down the virus. What the fever clinic does NOT do: provide treatment provide medical certificates for your employer test people who do not meet the criteria. Just like all our other health services, taking tests is subject to clinical criteria. So how do you know if you should be tested? Check out Queensland Health’s Testing and fever clinics webpage at www.qld.gov.au//coro/take-action/testing-and-fever-clinics. It has an interactive quiz that lets you find out whether to test for coronavirus or stay at home and nurse your cold or flu. Currently, testing for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is only available for people who are feeling unwell AND have travelled to overseas in the past 14 days OR have had contact with a confirmed case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). More information can be found at www.health.gov.au//what-you-need-to-know-about-coronavirus If you have done your research and you think you need to be tested, call 13HEALTH (13 43 25 84) OR phone your local GP and explain why you think you need testing. They will tell you what to do next. If you do have to visit our fever clinic, the final step is to please phone Ipswich Hospital on 3810 1111 for directions and instructions before turning up. The last thing you want to do for you and your community is leave home when you are sick, unless it is recommended. Our fever clinic is currently open to the public seven days a week from 11am to 5pm, but hours will vary depending on demand. For support during the current outbreak, phone: 13HEALTH (13 43 25 84) to discuss symptoms MH CALL (1300 64 22 55) for mental health enquiries Triple Zero (000) in an emergency Lifeline (13 11 14) for crisis support Beyond Blue (1300 22 46 36) for counselling
