17.01.2022 NSW Department of Education has released updated regulations regarding public schools and COVID-19. The Department has re-iterated that schools are operating full time while actively following health advice. All students are expected to attend their place of education unless they are displaying cold and flu symptoms or have a medical certificate from a Doctor. In accordance with advice from NSW Health, parents and carers are reminded NOT to send children to school if they a...re unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms. Schools will make arrangements for students who present as unwell or have flu-like symptoms to be sent home. NSW Health have requested that schools encourage anyone who is unwell or has even mild flu-like symptoms, to arrange to be tested through their local medical practitioner or one of the COVID-19 clinics. Students with flu-like symptoms will need to provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result before being permitted to return to school. Schools will be vigilant when implementing infection control, physical distancing and personal hygiene protocols to protect the health and safety of students and staff. Non-essential adults are still not permitted on school grounds or at school events. This includes parents and carers except for face-to-face parent/teacher meetings that are essential (e.g. to discuss disciplinary or other welfare matters). Please DO NOT enter our school grounds unless you have a meeting with a staff member. This applies during pick up and drop off times and throughout the school day. If you are picking up a student during school time, please call the office on 02 6567 4828 and a staff member will bring your child to the gate. All P&C meetings must now only be held via online platforms and any P&C events or gatherings must be postponed until further notice. Activities on hold until further notice The following activities remain on hold for the remainder of Term 3. Kindergarten orientation School camps Excursions Interstate excursions Parent and carer attendance at assemblies and other school events Parent and carer volunteers e.g. parent reading helpers (note: canteen and uniform shop volunteers are permitted) We ask that all parents/caregivers, community members, students and staff strictly follow these regulations so we can keep our school community safe and healthy. 16.01.2022 Following on from our Lunchbox Leftovers program in Term 3, students in Class 3-6 participated in a bees wax wrap workshop last Friday. Students were keen to learn how to make the bees wax wraps with facilitator Chelsea from MidWaste.

14.01.2022 Always trying to come up with activities that will engage a whole class I set the Seniors a task to create a village. They would be introduced to a 3D Pen and the PLA filament. This got their attention. Step one was to research how fences were made in the early years. They found a method called Wattling and set about making fences for the village they would create. Step two involved their maths skills as they began drawing the pattern for the houses. Many maths skills here... as they took measurements, added and divided to get the right measurements, then skilfully drew the house plan. Step three and students were instructed on how to hold and use a 3D Pen. The construction of the houses began with students carefully using the new technology. A great job by all students who mastered the 3D Pen and have created colourful houses. We have even created a dam for the village, Next step will be setting the house onto a board to create the village and then adding power to light up the houses. I wait in anticipation as the students and class teacher put the finishing touches to the project. See more

14.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers, Just a reminder that supervision of students does not begin until 8:35. For their safety, we ask that students not be dropped off until after this time. Thankyou.

14.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers, These past two months have been a trying time for all involved in our school community. We would like to thank you all for the ongoing support and understanding that has been shown during this time. It has been wonderful to see our small school community pull together for the benefit of our students. School will be resuming this coming Monday 25th May 2020 and with this is the expectation that all students will return to fulltime face to face classes.... If your child can not attend due to an ongoing medical condition, a medical certificate will be required or your child will be marked as having an unexplained absence. The Department of Education guidelines are clear on this and are outlined below. All students should be at school unless: They have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition They are currently unwell. School students do not need to follow physical distancing guidelines, but should follow good hygiene practices like: Regularly washing hands Avoiding sharing drinks or food Coughing or sneezing into your elbow, or a tissue which should be discarded immediately. What children can do when they attend school: Use the school library Engage in non-contact sporting activities Participate in face to face classes What students cant do: School assemblies (unless for critical information) School excursions including camps Drink from a water bubbler bring a water bottle instead Order food from the school canteen If you require further clarification of the measures implemented for the return to face to face learning, please contact the school. Thankyou, Kylie Nicholson.

10.01.2022 Due to the current situation regarding COVID-19, restrictions are in place across all NSW Public Schools. These restrictions state that all public schools are closed sites with only staff and students having access. With this, we are asking that all students be dropped off and picked up at the school gate and that parents do not enter school grounds unless absolutely necessary. If you are needing to enter school grounds for a valid reason e.g. signing a student in or out, mee...ting with teacher/principal etc, please go to the outside office window and make yourself known to staff. If you are unsure whether your reason is valid, please call the office on 02 65 674 828. Thankyou for helping to keep our staff and students safe and for minimising the possibility of a COVID-19 case in our school.

08.01.2022 Last Friday 11th of September was Walk Safely to School day. Students and staff walked under the bridge into Kinchela Village. On the walk we discussed the importance of road safety and how to correctly cross roads and driveways. We were also lucky enough to see the old church and butcher shop. A community member who has the old bakery in her yard also allowed us to have a look at that. It was a wonderfully informative afternoon.

08.01.2022 Jayden and William are enjoying their technology lessons. They are learning simple coding with the Code-a-pillar program. They code the caterpillar to move forward, left turn, right turn, jump logs and swim in the lakes. At the end of each level is a maths activity. This is a great fun way to introduce coding to the younger students.
