24.01.2022 Are you constantly interrupted by your kids?? Ever heard the interrupting cow joke?? Knock, knock Who’s there? ... Interrupting cow Interrupting cow MOO .... Yep.... ALL. THE. TIME. As a teacher, times that by 30!!! All day!!! Then you come home to it as well!!! So when I taught kinders, there were always a couple of kids that had no impulse control, interrupted constantly and had not clue when people got cross with them for doing it. So I taught them that I would hold their hand to acknowledge that I heard them, and that I’m getting ready to listen to them, I just needed to finish listening to the other child first. I would hold my other hand up like a stop sign if they needed the extra reminder and they knew, after a couple of times, that they needed to wait their turn. This worked a treat, because little people just want your attention and your acknowledgement. By holding the hand of the charming little interrupting cow(!), they are getting the acknowledgment, physically reaffirming it, but also learning, eventually, they need to wait their turn. So with your little people at home, when they interrupt, teach them that they need to wait their turn. You’ll hold their hand to let them know you’ve heard them, and when you let go, it’ll be their turn to speak. Try.l not to leave them waiting for more than a few minutes, because let’s face it. They’re kids, and they can’t wait long!!! Help them succeed and get to their turn quickly.

19.01.2022 I hope everyone's had a great Christmas and new years. During the school holidays our kids can sometimes get unruely as they're routines are changed and they have a lot of extra time. To kick start the year here are some great strategies to defuse meltdowns. Holidays can be tricky when children are out of their normal everyday routines. These might come in handy over the holiday period

14.01.2022 Oh, are you really? Ok then. And walk away. This is what I do, and when I look back this is what I see . When was it my job as a parent to occupy my kids 24/7???... As a teacher, o see so many kids now a days that can’t just sit and wait, patiently for something, whether it be 30 seconds to a few minutes. Like seriously.... just wait!!!! I know it’s all to do with technology, our busier lives etc. but really, do we have to continue with it? Can we just let our kids be.... kids??? Can’t we just say, ok so your bored, what can you do? What would be a good idea? What are you allowed to do? Can’t we just let them figure out these things for themselves??? In a safe, cared for and supervised, from a small distance??? See more

13.01.2022 When our kids get into the fight or flight mode, and their world is frustrated and angry, as parents we need to not add to that chaos. Well try at least. ..... Yelling back, getting frustrated too is only going to add to their chaos minds. We need to try, as often as possible, listen, remember where the angry or frustration is coming from and listen. When the initial rant is over and they’ve calmed a little, then we can offer solutions. This is so hard, especially when the...y’re raging and it’s all your fault! All you want to do is tell back, but really, we’re the adults, let’s show them how to calming solve as many problems as we can. Don’t get me wrong, there are times when you need to raise the voice and tone!!!!

10.01.2022 Yes I hide veges in spag bol sauce, actually I hide veges in heaps of dinners. Do you hide veges?

07.01.2022 What’s your favourite meal to share together as a family?? Is dinner the favourite time? Breakfast??

05.01.2022 Letting your kids be bored is so ok. Seeing children that HAVE to be entertained ALL. THE. TIME is so disappointing as a teacher. So many kids these days just can’t find something to do for themselves. And it’s because of helicopter parents, technology constantly stimulating them and our need to occupy them. So I say STOP. Let them be bored. We were as kids and it did t hurt us, in fact it helped us find, make up and enjoy our own games.

05.01.2022 Do you add to the communication battle with your kids by raising your voice louder than theirs?? If you do, guess what, they’ll raise it higher again!! And it’ll keep going. . So if you want to really get their attention, drop your voice to nearly a whisper!!! See what happens.

05.01.2022 Is this something families still do. Family meal time is, I believe, one of the most important things each day. It’s a time to share and communicate together. But is this tradition a thing that is disappearing??? Does your family eat dinner together?

04.01.2022 If you only made time to do 1 thing with your kids, what would it be?

04.01.2022 Chaos doesn’t always have to be bad. Sometimes chaos is just crazy fun that you need to just go with, like being eaten alive by mosquitoes, while the kids are paddle boarding in flood waters!!!! (Closely supervised!!!) . Sometimes it’s ok to just go with it, for a little while!!!

04.01.2022 Do you little ones need better sleep??? Diffusers are so good to use in your kids rooms at night. They don’t make things wet but they disperse the oil molecules into the air so that they are easily absorbed into your child’s body, giving them full body relaxation. This is a gift that really gives twice! ... $78 wholesale with lavender oil $104 retail with lavender $1 from the sale of each Koala Diffuser will be donated to the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife to support a Bushfire Recovery Nurseries program that will sustainably replant bushfire destroyed bushland and restore habitats for koalas and other native wildlife. In Northern New South Wales they are working specifically with Friends of the Koalas to regrow habitat lost to the bushfires.
