22.01.2022 KIND OF BLUE TRIO - AT LAST by HARRY WARREN This song was a specific request made by a couple whose wedding we performed at in early March in Macedon. We were asked to perform this for them as they walked down the 'aisle' for their special ceremony and we are now delighted to include it in our repertoire as a special dedication to them both.

21.01.2022 KIND OF BLUE TRIO: THE LOOK OF LOVE, composed by Burt Bacharach was originally intended as an instrumental. The lyrics were added later by Hal David. The Bacharach and David team created many famous songs. This popular song was published in 1967 and sung by English singer Dusty Springfield for the James Bond "Casino Royale" soundtrack and as a result was nominated in the Best Song category in the 1968 Academy Awards. In 2008, this romantic and popular song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. It has been recorded many times with memorable versions by Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 when it reached #4 on the Charts. Another is Dionne Warwick in 1969, Diana Krall in 2001, Diana Ross in 2006 and so it goes on in time never losing it's appeal.

19.01.2022 The Hammer Duo is 2/3 of the Kind of Blue Trio.......Libertango by Astor Piazzolla.

19.01.2022 KIND OF BLUE TRIO - GEE BABY The full title to 'Gee Baby’ composed by Don Redman with lyrics by Andy Razaf is ‘GEE BABY, AIN’T I GOOD TO YOU’. It was first recorded in 1929 just one week after the stock market crash. Ironically the lyrics reflect the consumer driven culture of the time and uses expensive presents to show the depth of the singer’s sentiments.... It was recorded by many artists over the decades including Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday in the 1940’s and a few times in the 2000s by Diana Krall, proving the timeless appeal of Jazz and its many elements. 17.01.2022 Last February, Kind of Blue Trio performed together at The Port Fairy Jazz Festival. One of our chosen songs was ‘C’est Si Bon’ which is featured here. Althoug...h the sound is a slightly muffled due to the venue’s acoustics and with the video recorder being closest to Joseph, the sound levels aren’t the best. However, we had a great time performing for enthusiastic audiences. Now, sadly the Festival has been cancelled like all other music events so we are endeavouring, over the next few weeks, to post something of our music. C’est Si Bon, means It’s So Good, became a very popular French record in 1947 when Henri Betti composed the original music with added lyrics by André Hornez. It became a longtime favorite of Jazz musicians with many versions going back to 1953 when Eartha Kitt made it into the Top Ten American charts to the latest version which was recorded in January 2020 in trio with Iggy Pop, Diana Krall and Thomas Dutronc for his Frenchy album. Kind of Blue Trio added it to their repertoire and have performed it many times and always in French. With vocalist Danielle’s French background it’s only fitting that we should continue with our own French version. See more

17.01.2022 KIND OF BLUE TRIO.......DANCE ME TO THE END OF LOVE by Leonard Cohen.........@ PORT FAIRY JAZZ FESTIVAL. A 1984 song written and first performed by LEONARD COHE...N in the same year. Our version is based on the Madaleine Peyroux interpretation of this passionate love song but the song itself expresses some deep reflections on life and death, endless love and undiminished beauty from Leonard Cohen, the poet. 02.01.2022 ‘Exactly Like You’ is a delightful catchy song written in 1930 by Jimmy McHugh with simple, swinging lyrics by Dorothy Fields describing ‘how grand’ it is when you find the right person, ‘who seems to understand’ one’s dreams and schemes. It was introduced in a 1930’s Broadway Revue featuring a famous performer of the period, Gertrude Lawrence. The show featured another song, which has also endured to become a popular standard, ‘On the Sunny Side of the Street’ which Kind of Blue Trio also include in their long list of songs.
