25.01.2022 At Kindaburra we have students from many different places come to our centre for work experience. Last month we had Miu from Japan, who came to us from TCI support Australia- an organisation that we work in partnership with frequently. It is a great opportunity for us to develop our knowledge about Early Childhood teaching in other countries, and for the students to learn about Australia in the same way. These are some photos of Miu with our Director Trish and our wonderful Pre School educators Ms Katherine and Ms Chloe. Thank you for visiting us at Kindaburra Miu, it was a pleasure to have you!

20.01.2022 What are children learning during outdoor play time ? Their sensory skills are developing as they are touching different textures leaves, grass, dirt, rocks, bark. They are smelling a range of smells and hearing many sounds in nature. Improved critical thinking, creativity and social skills. They are inspired and empowered to be themselves and explore whatever comes to their imagination. The children incorporate found objects into their play just think of all the ...things an amazing stick can become! Respect for nature- Spending time outdoors is a great way for children to connect with nature in a personal way. They develop an understanding of how to care and look after their play environment. Once they love nature, theyll want to protect it.

15.01.2022 Last week at Kindaburra we were very excited to have a visitor in the Dingo room. Liam's mum Michelle came into read a story from Vietnam to the class. Michelle explained the story was about a King who had 4 sons who each competed to become the King. The children really enjoyed the story, thanks Michelle! At Kindaburra we love learning about different cultures! 14.01.2022 P L A Y D O U G H Yesterday our children had a morning activity of making playdough. The children participated by adding the flour in and turning it over. Miss Brooke then added the other ingredients explaining to the children that the boiling water was very hot and that it was a step in the process she had to complete. The ingredients were all mixed together and kneaded until the dough was smooth on a floured surface.... This is what Miss Brooke put in her playdough 4 cups of flour 1 cup of cooking salt cream of tartar a splash of oil 4 cups of boiling water with food colouring This is something you can make at home with your kids

13.01.2022 This is the phonics lesson that happens daily in the Dingo Room (4-5 years old). Each week there is a new letter of the week, recently we had "Z". This is a part of the school readiness program that our children engage in. Firstly the children brainstorm words that they know beginning with that letter, then the teacher writes it on the interactive smart board. This lesson facilitates the children's learning of sound and letter recognition, and it is another step to prepare them for school.

12.01.2022 We recently had our Fathers day BBQ at Kindaburra, which was a huge success! The children had a fantastic time playing and spending time with their dads. Thank you to everyone who came along to our event, it is great to see our educators and families come together as part of the Kindaburra community.

11.01.2022 Recently we captured these photos of our Dingo children having a great time at our Billabong area. They love to use this space as a quiet area to relax, or to go and check out the natural environment. They enjoyed feeding our fish and were a bit surprised when they jumped up for their food!

09.01.2022 Last week at Kindaburra we celebrated some birthdays with our new Kindaburra birthday party packages! Check out some photos from the parties we had in the Dingo room. Thanks to our educators for organising the games and activities, and our chefs for the delicious and healthy food. It was so nice to watch the children celebrate their birthday with their Kindaburra family!

09.01.2022 SCIENCE EXPERIMENT TIME Last week the children in our Joey, Kangaroo and Goanna Rooms (2-3 years) participated in a science experiment where they melted down a snow man that they created made of baking soda. They used droppers with vinegar inside to explore the chemical reactions made between the baking soda and vinegar. During the experiment the children could see, hear, smell and touch the baking soda as it fizzed and bubbled away engaging nearly all of their senses!

08.01.2022 Finger Painting with Hand Soap Last week in the Koala/Possum room (0-2 years old) the children explored finger painting with hand soap. This was such a simple experience with two components; hand soap and a large tray. Our children had a lovely time exploring the hand soap and feeling the cool delightful texture. This type of play further develops fine motor dexterity and sensorimotor skills, along with self expression and free exploration. After this experience the children rinsed their hands in a bucket of warm water, thoroughly washed their hands with the support off Miss Brooke and then dried their hands with a paper towel. This activity was so much fun and is such a simple activity to do at home.

07.01.2022 Wildlife rescue alert! Yesterday in the joeys and kangaroo playground a baby bird was found hiding in the grass after falling out of one of our large trees. Ms Bonnie and the children came together to help turn a basket into a nest for the bird by filling it with twigs and grass. The bird was then put back in the tree (to the relief of his parents) The kids where very curious about the bird and we were able to discuss how birds are raised and the importance of Sydney’s nat...ive wildlife. The children witnessed how the whole family was helping to raise this baby, with both parents and two older siblings lending a hand (or wing in this case). Noisy Miner, Manorina melanocephala, are Australian native birds. Part of the honey eater family. We will keep you posted on his progress.

07.01.2022 This month we were going to be celebrating The Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week, but due to COVID-19 it has been rescheduled till October 17-23 2020. At Kindaburra we absolutely love reading books and wanted to share a few of our favourites as recommended by our educators. Literacy is a paramount part of childrens language development. Books and storytelling are good to share with children to follow interests and introduce new texts/ storylines. Story time is ...also a great way for the children to enjoy their group times and use their imagination, particularly when storytelling may evolve into play. What is your favourite book to read to your children?

05.01.2022 This week the babies have started working on their Fathers Day suprises. As can be seen in the photos, painting with short thick brushes was the basic foundation for this project. Painting is a great way for the children to express themselves through the arts, which further develops and enhances creativity as well as strengthening fine motor skills and hand eye coordination. ... This was great fun and the children enjoyed exploring the paint with the colours of their choice as well as feeling the cool and soft texture of the paint. All will be revealed when the children take their Fathers Day presents home next week!

05.01.2022 On March 6th we have our Meet the Teacher Information Evening from 6:15 - 7:00pm! We will be discussing many things surrounding our programing and would love for our families to join us.

05.01.2022 Yesterday our Goannas, Joeys and Kangaroos spent the afternoon taking care of our veggie garden. They found these great bunches of carrots that had grown perfectly and were ready to be picked. The children assisted Ms Marjorie to clean the carrots and take them up to our chef who will use them in our next delicious meal! Looking after our plants and vegetables gives the children a sense of responsibility and respect for our outdoor environment and teaches them about how the foods they eat are grown.

04.01.2022 At Kindaburra we are always striving to form meaningful relationships with our families. The feedback we receive is really special to us and we think its important to share with our community! We received a lovely email from a parent in our Kookaburra room recently, Thank you Yasser for your kind words and support. "Dear Miss Katherine,... Thank you for your detailed observation report. It represents a great improvement in her communication skills and learning outcomes, and that can be considered as a breakthrough. I knew she had a great potential, but she needed a starting point and that is what you've been doing since her first day at Kindaburra. In addition, she is really proud to be part of the Kookaburra team and Kindaburra. Every time when we pass nearby the centre she is jumping with happiness and enjoyment. Thank you for your remarkable support and encouragement, my family and I cannot thank you enough."

02.01.2022 We recently had our outdoor playgrounds restructured to allow us to utilise more of our Laneway area, which was very exciting! The Joey/Kangaroo and Kookaburra/Dingo children had a great time exploring the environment, searching for bugs, bush tucker and helping to care for our veggie garden. At Kindaburra we love our natural bushland! We would like to invite any of our families who have an interest in gardening and caring for the environment to contact us to come in and share this with the children.

02.01.2022 We want to take a moment to acknowledge one of our many long term team members- Ms Brooke, who came to Kindaburra 11 years ago today. She started as a diploma teacher and has given to us many years of hard work, dedication, support and passion. Ms Brooke is now an Early Childhood teacher, room leader and nominated supervisor. She has a calm and professional "Can Do" attitude and is dedicated to help each child achieve their very best. She is invaluable to her Kindaburra Family and we are very lucky to have her :) Thank you and congratulations Ms Brooke, looking forward to the next 11 years!

02.01.2022 Recently at Kindaburra, our Joey/Kangaroo class have been learning about responsibility by helping to care for our worm farm. The idea of introducing a worm farm at our centre began in the early years of opening, as we followed the childrens interest in growing their own produce, and their fascination with everything in our garden and outdoor play environment. Here the children are able to engage in meaningful interactions with their educators whilst learning about gardening and sustainability, helping them to become socially responsible. The children have had a blast with this activity. Next time you're in come and check out our worm farm!

01.01.2022 Today is Early Childhood Educators day, which recognises and celebrates the work of Australia's educators in early learning services for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care. This year has been especially challenging for the whole Early childhood industry and our amazing educators have certainly risen to the challenge. Today we are saying a big thank you with a team pizza lunch! We thank all of our educators... for their dedication, hard work and passion that they have brought to Kindaburra in their many years of service. Their love and care for the children they teach is second to none and they always employ our philosophy that children always come first! We invite our families to comment below something they love about our teachers :) https://youtu.be/GrmQW1s7KdE #EarlyChildhoodEducatorsDay

01.01.2022 Today in the Kookaburra room Magnus and his peers were using play dough to make Easter eggs. Play dough is a simple preschool staple that lets children use their imaginations and strengthen the small muscles in their fingers, the same muscles they will one day use to hold a pencil and write.
