23.01.2022 Fire Fighters! Last week we were lucky enough to have a visit from the Armadale Fire Brigade. They taught us all about fire safety and the special equipment they use to fight fires. We had so much fun using the big fire hose and seeing the fire truck up close!
22.01.2022 It’s not too early to start preparing your child for kindy in 2021. Open, honest communication is such a huge part of their success. Open up a dialogue about what they can expect from kindy, what they’re looking forward to, what they’d like to learn, the friends they’ll get to make etc. You can help set them up for success by talking with your little one. You’re welcome to come for a tour yourself so that you can see the classroom and get a feel for what the average day brings.
22.01.2022 Investigating Nests A fallen nest brought in by one of our Kindy families has sparked an investigation into how and why birds make nests!
22.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW? There were over 500 Community Kindergartens in WA in the 1980s. These schools were the only kindy programs in WA and children only attended 2 half days a week compared to 5 day fortnight we have today. ... Since these kindies have opened their doors (at least 40 years ago) they have always taken pride in offering Play Based programs which is still in practice today. Many families have had at least 2 generations attend these kindies as they know the importance of our programs and family involvement. Since the 90s, these kindy programs were slowly being absorbed into mainstream schools and as of this date, we now unfortunately have 18 sites left in the whole of WA. These days, Community Kindies are a great alternative option for parents if they feel their child isn't ready to be part of a formal school environment. As Community Kindies are off-site from mainstream schools, the schedules, resources, equipment are all age appropriate. It is great to have play based programs making a comeback internationally and this article does a great job to explain the benefits on learning through play. https://www.nbcnews.com//how-play-making-comeback-kinderga
21.01.2022 Being a school off-site from mainstream schools allows our play-based program to run on a schedule that suits 4 year olds. Not a timetable that caters for multiple year groups. Lunch is never rushed and the extra play time allows children to burn enough energy to focus back on task. Even the activities in class time encourage the children to create, imagine and even learn independently with the multiple activity tables set out throughout the classroom. ... Play is a necessity in learning. Through play, children learn so many crucial skills to help prepare them for pre primary: - Physical - Emotional - Cognitive - Social - Moral - Language Play allows a child to learn the curriculum through a more fun and engaging platform. This results in children retaining more information through enjoyable and memorable experiences. If you have a child you know wouldn't be able to sit behind desks and focus on work for long periods or they experience anxieties with large groups, contact us to book a private tour to discuss about our program in more detail with our teaching staff. You can also find our parent information booklet plus more on our website www.kindaimanna.com
