We have expressed ourselves artisitically as we used lucky colours to create our own artworks, we watched traditional New Year celebrations and dressed up with our friends in authentic clothes brought in by our wonderful families. Thank you to everyone for sharing pieces of your special culture with us and letting us celebrate with you.

24.01.2022 The Wombats continued to show a great interest and lots of enthusiasm when participating in group games with Soccer Pat. It was great to see the children clapping and cheering for their teammates. This game was a great way to show the Wombats, that sometimes you win and sometimes you dont. As long as we try our best it doesnt matter if we win or not. The Wombats laughed, sharing enjoyment and humour as the games continued. Thanks for visiting Pat, we look forward to our next visit!
24.01.2022 To continue the Wonderful Wombats growing interest in dramatic play. They have been taking on roles from members of their own family/community. This provided the Wonderful Wombats with increasing opportunities and resources to explore/represent their imagination and social thinking skills.
23.01.2022 The Wombats greeted Miss Maree with big smiles and hellos today as we settled into our seats for the art session. Before beginning, Miss Maree talked to us about printing and demonstrated how she created a picture of a tree on a piece of foam by using a pencil, rolling green paint on it and then pushing it hard onto a piece of paper creating a print. The Wombats were eager to give it a try themselves and were encouraged to think of something they wanted to print on their foam. We saw trees, rainbows, shapes, self-portraits and many more great works of art.

19.01.2022 We were very lucky to have Emmas Mum Kylie give up her free time to transform us into superheros, crocodiles, tigers, Minnie mouse and rainbows with her fabulous face painting skills. It made our morning as we were transformed into characters of our choice and then got to show off our dramatic play skills with our friends as we embraced our new identities! Thank you very much Kylie for spending the morning with us!
17.01.2022 Throughout the month of May, the Emus learnt about different types of food, sometimes food vs. always foods. This project stemmed from a discussion on what foods we like to eat whilst having morning tea and after Julian shared his story about his dentist visit with us. The children used their language skills to share what they love to eat. We introduced the healthy eating pyramid and the 5 food groups to the children.
16.01.2022 The Playful Possums have been exploring their senses this week through the use of rainbow spaghetti. The children were provided with a range of colours were they could create, rearrange and mould. This experience has fostered both independent learning and collaborative learning as the children are provided opportunities to work on their own or with their peers. The Possums showed enthusiasm and commitment through this play-based learning experience which has provoke projects that encourage manipulation of fine motor muscles.

12.01.2022 We celebrated an entire week dedicated to learning about families. We all engaged in a variety of provisions that promoted the childrens sense of belonging to their family and to their community. In the Wombat room families were asked to bring in a photo of their family for their child to share and to also add to our family tree. The Wombats were also given the opportunity to create a family portrait using crayons and coloured textas. Some of the Wombat children also joined their younger siblings for a special morning tea in the Possums room. Happy National Families Week!
12.01.2022 The Emus have been busy developing their friendships while exploring the different learning areas within their environment. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking their art work to the outdoor environment and participating in a group art activity in the surroundings of the outdoor garden. The children have also been learning about how to take care of the environment, engaging in provisions including, having discussions about how to care for our plants, as well as watering our plants daily and monitoring their progress.
12.01.2022 As we begin to engage in a variety of languages and literacy activities, the Possums are beginning to recognise animals and their sounds. Through books and felt board stories we have enjoyed exploring the different animal characters, such as the cow the children would say pointing and making a mooing sound.
12.01.2022 We loved receiving these photos today from Mum (Kimberley) of Jackson in his school uniform! Jackson graduated from the Wombats last year and was very excited to begin his new journey at Big School. Mum has told us that he is very confident and has made some new friends and is progressing very well with sight words and reading. Thanks Kimberley for sending us these photos of Jackson and Miranda.

11.01.2022 At Kindalin Kellyville Ridge the Playful Possums have been busy exploring the home corner and engaging in socio-dramatic play as they care for their babies. The Possums have been roleplaying as mums, dads and educators as they feed, wash, dress and pat the dolls to sleep. Through dramatic play experiences, educators continue to support the children in developing pro-social skills including sharing, inclusivity and awareness and understanding of cultural diversity.
11.01.2022 The Emus at Kindalin Kellyville Ridge have been continuing to focus on their name writing over the past few months. They have been busy in the writing centre using the different resources to practise their letter and name recognition. Name cards have been used throughout the daily routine and transitions allowing them to look closely at each of the letters that make up their names.
10.01.2022 Science Week saw our Wombats engaging in various science experiments including their all-time favourite, Sandpit Volcano. The Wombats worked together bringing buckets of water to wet the sand before moulding it into a cone shape. Some Wombats discussed how We need to put a liquid in the volcano, so the activity was extended to explore the states of matter of our ingredients: solid, liquid, or gas? The Wombats took turns pouring vinegar and baking soda before using their senses to observe the red lava erupting, the sour smell emitted, the sizzling bubbles, and the wet sand to touch. The Wombats named their volcano the Big Big Big Big Volcano because it was so big, they said they needed a ladder to climb it!
09.01.2022 The Emus started the sun safe week by ensuring their sunscreen was applied thoroughly throughout the day. They were encouraged to use the mirrors at the sunscreen stations to assist them in applying their own lotion. As the weather is warming up, we will be discussing the importance of applying sunscreen, wearing our hats and drinking plenty of water throughout the day. A friendly reminder to make sure your child has a hat each day and that sunscreen is applied in the morning.
09.01.2022 On Monday the 3rd of September, the children were beyond excited with the arrival of our chicken eggs. All the children eagerly awaited the anticipated arrival of the very first baby chick, regularly checking to see if there was any movement. On day 2, the children noticed the egg cracking and quickly ran to tell their friends. It was a very special moment as we got to watch the baby chick crack open their egg and begin their life. We discussed how it was important to keep the baby chicken in the incubator for 1 day before transferring them to their new home for the 2 weeks while they lived at Kellyville Ridge.

07.01.2022 The Emus have been really enjoying easel painting in the room this month. We used the large paper and created detailed and fun artworks alongside one of our friends. We have also been developing our visual arts skills individually as we use our imaginations and creative sides to complete artworks of our choice using a wide range of visual arts mediums. As we paint alongside our Educators and friends we are also working on our colour recognition and identification skills as we label them verbally and discuss the meaning of primary and secondary colours.

06.01.2022 To welcome Winter all of the Educators and children were invited to dress up in their warmest winter woollies. During the week, the children engaged in discussions about the changes in the weather and what clothes we should wear to keep warm. We also had a movie day were the children voted at calendar time what winter movie they wanted to watch Happy Feet was the winner.
06.01.2022 The Possums have been very intrigued with our Bug display and hands on activity table. There are caterpillars, snakes, butterflies, flies and other sorts of creatures hiding within the artificial grass ready for the Playful Possums to find. Using magnifying glasses, the Possums alongside their peers and educators search high and low to find all the bugs. Soon, the Possums would begin exploring each others faces as they would recognise the size and shape differs when looking through the magnifying glass. The children even had lots of giggles when they looked closely at their educators faces. Using the Possums interest in bugs has allowed educators to foster language acquisition, pro-social and social skills, cooperation abilities, as well as building on cognitive development all within the hidden curriculum.
06.01.2022 Extending on the Wombats project on recycling today we had a special visit from a company called Binwise. The children gathered as a group and listened attentively as we were introduced to a red bin and a yellow bin. The Wombats were then all given the opportunity to choose a piece of rubbish and put it into the bin they thought it belonged in. We finished the visit by enjoying a book about recycling and how it helps the environment.

03.01.2022 The Kindalin children came together in the art room to participate in this exciting experience. The educators performed There was a Princess who had Miss Naomi (The Princess), Miss Manu (The Witch) and Miss Nat (The Prince). There were many laughs and claps to be had as we watched the story be played out. We then has a story read by Miss Bianca (Cat in the Hat), Miss Jess (Thing 1), and Miss Larissa (Thing 2). The children showed clear enjoyment throughout which was evident with their smiles, laughter and eagerness to dance during the performances. This experience has fostered a sense of community within our centre and has further developed our love for books and exploring literacy concepts through different mediums.

The children were involved in a soccer activity using the soccer goal post and a ball. The children demonstrated their ability to listen to the rules and instructions of the game and each took turns in practising kicking the ball into the goal. Hand-eye coordination was a focus as they aimed the ball into the goal. The Emus cheered alongside their friends when they scored and had a lot of fun!
01.01.2022 Our play and imaginations really came to life outdoors where we were able to use various sized diggers and trucks in the yard to transport sand in the sand pit and the boat and car climbing frames became tools for us to imagine all sorts of adventures with our friends. Our Mathematical thinking skills also came into play throughout our investigations as we counted the wheels on various bits of machinery and talked about how engines and different lifting and moving systems worked!
