24.01.2022 CLEVER KNITTERS. ‘I want to make a woolly jumper,’ said Evie the other day. KinderMarlee’s Art Studio always has an abundance of odds and ends, so armed with paper glue and wool, Evie proudly set about drawing and creating her ‘woolly jumper’ on paper. Artelier Andrea was so impressed with Evie’s creativity and achievement she asked if she would like to make a knitting machine and do some real knitting? Evie and her friends were very keen. Using Andrea’s knitting machine ...model as a guide, and with great determination and perseverance, the children created their own. Andrea began to demonstrate and with a some assistance the little knitters went to work. In no time at all they were experts, their little fingers manipulating the wool in and out with great competence and skill. It was so exciting to see the knitted snakes coming through the bottom of the crafty little knitting machine. Well done KinderMarlee knitters! See more

17.01.2022 FUTURE FARMERS. They might be KinderMarlee’s youngest, however lots of the children in The Nest have been showing great interest lately in all things from the farm. So, we set up a farm experience so our future little farmers could enjoy some fun learning. They've learned some new names and sounds, and some of the children are beginning to connect words to create meaning, such as, 'cow moo.’ This is the beginning of sentences. They've enjoyed singing 'Old MacDonald had a Far...m', 'Five little Ducks' and 'Baa baa black Sheep'. There has also been lots of fun with our animal puppets, recognising and naming the animals and mimicking their sounds. All part of developing useful motor skills, imagination and creativity, while pretending to be animals by moving and animating sounds, including trotting like a horse and flapping like a chicken. Great stimulation of their senses. KAREN See more

15.01.2022 BUDDING GARDENERS. Fletcher from the kindergarten and his family have kindly donated some tomato seedlings to KinderMarlee. Nate and Charlotte from the seniors were keen to get them planted right away. Working as a team, with our forks we tossed the soil and prepared the garden. Charlotte digging the hole before Nate carefully placed the seedling in place. To finish off the task, they fetched the watering cans and gave the young plants a good drink. Now they have the responsibility to keep up the watering, and patiently watch and wait for them to bear fruit. BROOKE

06.01.2022 HI-TECH LEARNING. During their final year with us, KinderMarlee’s kindergarten children are encouraged to become active learners, developing an understanding about the world around them. One vital aspect of this learning, particularly in today’s world, is engaging with new technologies. The centre’s new interactive whiteboard has introduced a whole new experience for the children to explore and develop these skills. They are having great fun learning how to use their fingers as a writing tool, and to create some great shapes and patterns too! JACINTA

05.01.2022 LITTLE CHEFS. We’ve had great fun and success with making sandwiches and tacos in The Den (pre-kindy), so we thought we’d take food preparation learning in a new direction sweet fruit skewers. We focused on 'eating a rainbow' to encourage our budding little chefs to try different types of fruit (colours and textures) as well as some of their favourites. With great excitement, concentration and confidence the children cut and threaded the fruit in a sequence along to the rai...nbow song. 'I did!’ exclaimed Taric. ‘Look at mine!' Hunter followed. We also read the story 'The Pear from the Pear Tree' by Pamela Allen, which lead to discussion about where food comes from and how it grows. We love seeing our little chefs develop confidence and love for cooking while also developing their self-help skills, sense of wellbeing and communication skills. KRISTEN and DEANNA. See more
