25.01.2022 When you focus on what you do well, those things develop and grow. When you focus on what you do poorly, those things also grow. Your challenge today is to notice when you do something well and hone in on it and let go of the things you've done that are less than perfect. Sometimes our coworkers and partners aren't great at recognising our strengths, so we need to learn to see them ourselves. #Strengthswitch #Seethegood #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper

23.01.2022 Amy Wrzesniewski's research looks into how people view their work. Her findings indicate that those who see their work as a calling have more meaning in their work. She also found that in any given profession, be it cleaning or surgery, around 1/3 of people see their work as a job, 1/3 see it as a career and 1/3 see it as a calling. Interestingly, just as many cleaners as surgeons view their work as a calling. Perhaps it's not about the role, but more about the mindset of the individual doing the role? So, how do you view your work and how could you begin to connect with the difference you're making to others through your work? #Justajob #Calling #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper

23.01.2022 Finding meaning in the things you do is imperative to your wellbeing. Think about the people you influence during your day and the positives you bring to their lives. When you connect with meaning it helps you stay engaged, focused and motivated. Make sure you know why you're doing what your doing and how it makes a difference. #Meaning #Wellbeingatwork #Motivation #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper

23.01.2022 Kindness matters so much that we've created a way to make it super easy and fun this Christmas! Help us spread the word... Please share this video on your page so we can reach every corner of the globe. The more people we can touch, the kinder our world will become!!

20.01.2022 I just came across this beautiful article on how families living with autism see themselves. Definitely worth a read. https://www.huffingtonpost.com.au//photos-that-show-what-a

20.01.2022 Kindness and prosocial behaviour are certainly the answer to a lot of our social issues. But could they be part of human evolution too? Great article to unpack the evidence. https://www.abc.net.au//evolution-science-of-kind/11886430

16.01.2022 Sleep is so important to your wellbeing. In fact it's a crucial element in keeping your prefrontal cortext working well. The prefrontal cortex is the part of your brain responsible for decision making and self control, and you use it all day long. In fact, one more hour of sleep can double your willpower the following day. So if you're working towards becoming smarter, fitter, kinder or pretty much any goal.... make sure you're looking after your sleep, and a great way to do that is practicing gratitude when you get to bed. #Gratitude #Sleep #Selfcontrol #Workplacewellbeing #PositivePsychology #jodieCooper

15.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR! May 2020 bring you much love, laughter and new adventures. I'm discovering that there is almost always something fun around the corner or just over the hill. Can wait to see what 2020 has in store for us. Best wishes. The Cooper Family. #adventuresinpositivity #JodieCooper #Bright #Happynewyear #Familytravels #Biglapofoz #TAWK

13.01.2022 The term SANTOSHA has become my mantra for a balanced life. It's a sanskrit word used in yoga to define the point where you're challenging yourself, while simultaneously accepting your limitations and being content within the present moment. For me it's a reminder that while I'm striving to learn more, to help more people and to be a better Mum, what I'm doing right now is actually good enough. I choose to grow and learn AND I'm content with who I am and what I have. It's within that balance that I find my happiness. #Happiness #Balance #Contentment #PositivePsychology #Yoga #JodieCooper

13.01.2022 Sometimes in our individualistic, competitive society we feel more envy than joy when the people around us succeed. The term Firgun is a Hebrew word for the genuine joy you feel when someone achieves something significant. Their success should add to your wellbeing, inspire you to achieve more and share in thier gains. I hope you're able to acknowledge someone else's success today. #Competition #Firgun #Hebrew #PositivePsychology #Workplacewellbeing #JodieCooper

12.01.2022 If you are grounded in the present moment you cease to be distracted by issues in the past or caught up in challenges of the future. The little moments of life enable us to live fully and be engaged in the world around us. Tune in to the moments life gives you today weather at work or home, and embrace them wholeheartedly. #Moments #Mindfulness #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper

11.01.2022 When was the last time you learned something new? Adults spend less and less time in the learning zone and more and more time in the 'performance zone' where we expect ourselves to be getting everything right and doing it perfectly. Getting into the learning zone means giving yourself permission to get it wrong, to fall over and to start again. The learning zone is where growth, creativity and innovation happen. If you're a parent, please let your kids see you in the learning zone so they get that no one is perfect and ditto if you're a boss! #Learningzone #Growthmindset #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper

11.01.2022 Just came across this work by Chris Peterson. For those of you who are parents and teachers, hopefully it will resonnate. #positivepsychology #Kindness #adventuresinpositivity

10.01.2022 Hope is essential to your wellbeing, motivation and success in life. Hope can be defined as the ability to find multiple pathways to your desired outcome and to have the agency or self belief, to follow any, or all of those paths. Talking about your hopes and dreams can bring them to life and sew seeds of opportunity. Start a conversation today that breeds hope and optimism within your community or workplace. #Hope #Optimism #Motivation #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper

08.01.2022 Motivation is an important factor in success, but habit is the truly essential element for any long term goal. Rather than working hard on your goals, try shift your focus onto improving your habits. Could you wake a little earlier, make exercise more regular, watch a ted talk each day or say thank you more often? It's the simple routines in our lives that will develop our success both personally and professionally. #Success #Habits #Workplacewellbeing #Positivepsychology #JodieCooper

05.01.2022 Barbara Fredrickson is one of my favorite people in positive psychology. Her research into why positive emotions are important and how they help us to learn and grow is so inspiring. Fredrickson also developed the positivity ratio, establishing that if you find three positives for every one negative you'll be on the upward path of flourishing. So... when something negative happens, work towards finding three positives and you'll be well on your way to happiness. #Positivityratio #Fredrickson #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper #Happiness

04.01.2022 Benson is my 9 year old cocker spaniel. He's such an awesome dog and each morning we head to the beach for a walk together. My time with Benson keeps me grounded in what's important in life and who I really want to be. Sometimes work get's hectic, but that walk with Benson helps me stay focused and connected to the bigger picture of life. Random fact: Research indicates that people with dogs recover up to 4x faster after heart conditions than those without. #Benson #Dogs #Focus #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper

04.01.2022 Brene Brown's research into the power of vulnerability is ground breaking. She talks about courage and letting go of what others think of you, particularly those on the sideline who are happy to judge, but not brave enough to actually have a go. It's a nice reminder to make sure I'm tuning into the right feedback. #BreneBrown #Asskicking #Feedback #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper

04.01.2022 When did you last look around your home for what's going right? It's more likely you'll notice what's not going well and hone in on that. It's OK, it's actually a human trait called the negativity bias, and we all do it. It's natural to pay three times more attention to a negative than a positive, so in order for us to be happy (and great parents), we have to consciously shift this bias and find three positives to every one negative. #Negativitybias #Seethegood #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper

03.01.2022 In my early days of being a coach (some 14 years ago) I spent a lot of time thinking that coaching was about helping people achieve their goals. Now I understand that success isn't about achieving your goals, but about a mindset that embraces learning and savoring the good moments life offers. Self compassion is one of the first tools I give to clients to improve motivation and rebuild confidence. Here's a great article that explains why and how it works. http://ow.ly/enLU50yeUCs

01.01.2022 If everyone knew the things that made their life worthwhile, and invested more time in them, we'd have a much happier society. Ikagai is a beautiful Japanese term for the things that make your life meaningful. Some of my Ikagai include time with family, appreciating the natural world around me each day, being active in the outdoors, helping people construct happiness and learning new things. #Ikagai #Meaning #PositivePsychology #JodieCooper

01.01.2022 Saturday was World Gratitude Day. It's a good time to reflect on the positives in our lives. There are many people in the world who would love to have your life. By virtue of living in Australia, we are blessed to live in peace, have clean streets and stunning beaches, beautiful mountains and warm sunshine. Twice a day, every day, I count my blessings. Before I rise from bed, and when my head hits the pillow at night I think through how lucky I am. Happiness isn't a coincidence, it's a matter of consistantly focusing on the good things in your life. Gratitude is one of the quickest paths to happinses. #Gratitudeday #PositivePsychology #Countingblessings #AdventuresinPositivity #JodieCooper
