22.01.2022 Today we went to Ross in the Midlands of Tasmania for the launch of the 2013/2014 Tasmanian Fruits Farm Gate Guide put out by Fruit Growers Tasmania Inc. We enquired earlier this year and they have included feijoas as a fruit for the first time and our place as the Farm Gate venue, number 28 on page 16! We are quite excited! Also we were interviewed by Rosemary Grant from ABCs Rural Report which will probably be broadcast one morning next week. She will let us know which day so stay tuned!! Dont forget to pick your Farm Gate Guides hot off the press this week!

21.01.2022 Hello everyone. We are still here... Not so many Feijoas this year, a much quieter season. However no matter what the weather we still have to gather the Feijoas that are there! ... John was out in his wet weather gear Saturday checking and gathering. We have not been able to supply many fruit stores this year or expand into new ones as hoped but we still go to the Devonport Farmers Market twice a month and Axemans Hall of Fame Makers Market each Sunday. We have quite a few small and medium ones still so email if you are in need of a feijoa fix or catch up at a market!

18.01.2022 Had a wonderful day at 'Taste the Harvest' Festival in Devonport yesterday. Our first time at an event like this. Took the feijoa products as well as gluten-free baking including some meringues with the last of the feijoa flowers in a dollop of feijoa jelly. Great experience! We even had a great view of chef Colin Frassnidge from My Kitchen Rules cutting up a pig and promoting his new book! He was very popular! Thanks to all who visited us and tried the products!

18.01.2022 At Turners Beach Twilight Market this afternoon. We were grateful for the beautiful weather...

17.01.2022 Lots of flowers on most of the trees at the moment. They are really beautiful! We have tried a few in our bubbly too - yum! so will serve some to guests tomorrow evening. This weekend we will be at the Devonport Farmers Market on Saturday morning and at the Axemans Hall of Fame Makers Market in Latrobe on Sunday from 9 - 3 with the feijoa products and gluten-free baking!

16.01.2022 We went to Carrick today to check out our site for Agfest and take the heavy items and basic set-up things like tables, gazebo, jars etc. Car was very weighed down at back so we pumped back tyres up a bit! This is a huge event! We were blown away by the long list of site holders and participants. We met our stall neighbour who sells jewellry and he warned us it is hectic and full-on for the 3 days! We will go back Wednesday to set up the display ready for Thursday opening!

13.01.2022 The Feijoas have started dropping! Yeah! Harry was helping John under the couple of trees that have begun. Lots more to come soon we hope.

09.01.2022 Agfest is over and we are quite exhausted! It was a great experience even though sales were not as high as expected. However we met lots of wonderful people and made great contacts so are really pleased. Thankyou to Liam who came to help us. And thank you to everyone who enjoyed our products and cakes and came to meet us after the newspaper articles. Will post a few photos soon.

09.01.2022 We have had a very windy and wet winter and early spring. However only a couple of branches were broken from one of the more spread-out trees. Now there are lots of new shoots on the branches giving that pinkish-grey hue in the orchard which hopefully will produce many beautiful flowers in January. As the weather improves we have some pruning to attend to particularly some underneath shoots. That will keep us busy along with lots of other growth in the rest of the garden!

09.01.2022 Photo of meringues with feijoa jelly and fresh flower! They were popular at the markets today!

08.01.2022 Feijoa Polenta Crumbles ready for Harvest Farmers Market in Launceston tomorrow morning! Hope to see you there! We will also have fresh Feijoas, jams and chutneys...

07.01.2022 Hi everyone... The last of the feijoa flowers greets the developing fruit! It is all happening it seems. Hopefully a good season coming up. The first fruit should be ready early May. Stay tuned...

04.01.2022 Hi everyone, A weekend of markets coming up - Devonport Farmers Market on Saturday morning, Axemans Hall of Fame on Sunday from 9am to 3pm and Turners Beach Twilight Market from 4pm til 8pm. A big Australia Day! Am looking to make small pavlova cases and John is going for Anzac biscuits. Please let your friends know about Kindred Feijoas and that we will have feijoa products as well as gluten free baking. Thank you. Have a great Australia Day!

04.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Feijoa season is almost over! The high winds this morning blew a lot of the final ones off, mostly small ones. Jams and chutneys coming up with the remainder. Thank you everyone for your support over the season!

04.01.2022 Preparing for a soft landing every time! Yesterday and today we have been spreading out straw under the feijoa trees which is much softer than hay or bark chips for the Feijoas to land on - not to mention softer for our knees when crawling under the lower trees! We broke off all the new shoots that were appearing where John had pruned last year. Harry our dog has been helping us! He suddenly appears from nowhere when you are trying to spread the straw under the low branches! I have returned to the kitchen to finish the Spicy Feijoa Chutney and left John and Harry to finish the last few trees before the expected and welcomed rain..

04.01.2022 Spicy Feijoa Chutney in the pot! Batches of Hot and normal Feijoa Chutneys already in jars, now time to sit down with a wine and relax while the Spicy Chutney soaks in its spices over night! .... Getting ready for Agfest 2014!!

03.01.2022 Hi everyone! Latest feijoa treat - Upside-down feijoa cake! We are off to the Burnie Art and Garden Expo tomorrow and will take the feijoa products as well as my watercolours and some gluten-free cakes including the upside-down cake! Happy days to all.

02.01.2022 Hi everyone! We hope to be at Harvest Farmers Market in Launceston this Saturday for the first time! Still finalising the paperwork. We will have large and extra-large Feijoas, the jams and chutneys and feijoa-polenta crumble. Hope to see you there!
