24.01.2022 Total Fascia/Anatomy geek out moment! How ever this is spectacular and a great way to show the way our fascia system works, how all encompassing it is and to understand that if one section of our fascia isn't 'free' how it effects the rest of our bodies. Love this!

24.01.2022 I just can not believe that it is Christmas Eve and Santa is gracing us with his magical presents tonight! The laughter, chaos and tantrums of Christmas Day stretch out in front of me but it is the past 12 months that linger on my mind . To all my students who have graced me with their presents both online and in person - I thank you .... To all my followers and supporters - I thank you . To my co-yoga teachers (especially in GYYB!) - I thank you . To my friends and family - I thank you . Let's be honest 2020 has been a doozey and without all of you and your belief and support in me and your well-being journey I would not be here today . From the deepest part of my heart I thank you and wish you a wonderful Christmas . Know that you matter, wherever you are . Merry Christmas to all and I look forward to the next chapter of our journey together . Much love and joy, Kim xx

23.01.2022 Weekends - Family Fun Time!!!! I love getting my boys involved in a bit of yoga. It's a challenge and I do get the eye roll on a regular basis but it's something that has always been apart of our lives and so they succumb to my whims and sudden yell of 'tree pose' in random places! Balance is such an important part of life and to bring in something fun and tangible for us all to do is therapy at work and they don't even know it! Add a bit of Sturt Desert Pea beauty in...to the landscape and BAM - you have awesome grounding happening together - wobbles and all. Balance and grounding - such important concepts and ways of bringing harmony into our days especially when we are feeling overwhelmed, busy and a little frazzled. Try heading outside - the weather is amazing at the moment (in my part of the world) - kick off your shoes , wiggle those toes into the grass, soil, sand - take a couple of deep breaths through your nose and press your feet down. If you are feeling adventurous turn yourself into a tree by placing your foot to the side of your other leg - awesome and a beautifully fast and effective way to bring some balance and grounding into the day! Get the kids to do it with you - don't worry about what you look like - have fun, have a laugh and create a memory

22.01.2022 Selfie creativity - the joys of living isolated is that sometimes when you need a photographer you have to get out there and do it yourself!!! Yes, I am multi-tasking away Soon I am heading back onto the mat both online and (fingers-crossed ) in-person to start term 1 of 2021! This terms focus mobility - not flexibility - mobility! I refuse to use the word flexibility in regards to my yoga both personally and in class. Why? Tell me the image that pops up when you think... of flexibility? Pretzel like perhaps?! Heck, I use to think that too It is so important to me that the practices we experience on the mat are sustainable both in body and mind and are enjoyable with no-judgement. Our bodies have a story to tell us and they have been on a journey - so let's listen, let's respect and let's accept our own individual journey (body, mind and soul). When we start to move those walls - that is when the magic happens and by crikey it is so worth exploring and celebrating . I hope to see you on the mat soon. Head to www.kindredyoga.com.au for the class times this term

21.01.2022 We do not get this dramatic beauty in change of seasons in the desert!!! So beautiful and you can literally feel the change in season I am like a kid in the lolly shop watching the vibrant changes in mother nature down south. It's exciting and an invitation to change, let go and adapt. So much like our yoga practice which should be ever changing either with the seasons or our cycles. If you think about it our diet is the same changing and adapting to the seasons too - coo...l foods in summer and warm for winter. We really are working in a cycle yet our modern world has created a bit of a hiccup by offering foods all year round, us not knowing or understanding our cycles and the joys of heating and cooling. Not necessarily bad but just taken us off track if we want to honour the seasons xx

14.01.2022 Do you find it hard to notice your breath or to bring a bit of awareness to your own body? When I focus on my breath and target particular regions of my body in a yoga positions I have found that it really hones in my focus and awareness of self. In lateral or side extensions I notice this most intently and personally find it to be super calming. It is also so easy to do and you don't have to be in a yoga class to give it a try - even better right!... Okay give this a go: sit on the edge of a chair or on the floor with legs crossed settle your hands down by your hips breathing in extend your left arm towards the sky breath out stretch your left hand and extend towards the right (like in the picture ). Doesn't have to be much just enough to fell like you are opening through the left side of the body. stay here and just focus your breath into the left side of your ribs - notice the expansion and the contraction as you breath in and out when you are ready come back to the middle settle your left arm down and give yourself a moment to notice how you feel. repeat on the other side - simple as that Best part is you can do this at the dinner table, at your office, in the kitchen - anywhere - yoga mat not an essential Enjoy x

12.01.2022 I am a true believer that movement is medicine and that if we take a bit of time each day to step away from our desks that within ourselves we will feel amazing and perhaps become aware of ourselves more intuitively - plus our body will be giving us a big high five for sure! I love walking - I do have an open landscape to trudge out into but even when I was travelling the globe (do you remember what that was) I would walk everywhere - through the cities of Europe, alon...g the Caribbean beaches , up Welsh mountains, through cosy English villages. You really get a felt sense of a place when you hit the ground and meandered around, you notice so much more - the small things. When I bring in myofascial release techniques into my yoga practice my felt sense and awareness within self becomes more profound, even more intense. For me it has allowed me to self manage issues within my hips and also my ankle (when I thought flying down steps was okay!). This is important to me as it can take time for me to get into the medical care that maybe needed due to my remote location. Now my personal practice is my own programmed maintenance on myself so that if I do have to wait I feel great knowing that I am doing what I can to keep myself moving and grooving in a safe way. Have you ever tried myofascial release work? Each Thursday I combine my love for yoga with my love for myofascial release work into a practice or if you need to create your own personal practice then head to my website and book at yoga therapy package

09.01.2022 One gate closes and another gate opens - a play on words for this morning This pose isn't everyone's cuppa tea but it's a goodie for those who feel constriction through their hips and the side of the body. I am pausing here in a gentle version but you can deepen by hinging your body to point towards your extended leg - this deepens into the hips for sure! start on your hands and knees and extend your left leg to one side... press yourself up so you are now in an upright position gentle variation with hands at heart centre and imagine length extending along the top of the left leg towards the ground for a deeper one extend your right up towards the sky and settle your left hand onto your left leg - gently hinge at your hip an and move your body towards the left foot - take it slow so you can feel, explore and notice when enough is enough! If you have cranky knees perhaps give this one a skip and instead stay seated and move your body to one side to lengthen through the opposite side of the body - another goodie for the toolbox

08.01.2022 Darn you yoga for giving me the gift of self-awareness!!!!! Man, it has been one of those weeks - nope 2 weeks, let's not beat around the bush about that! It is the end of the term and so everything is wrapping up and honestly I have over-loaded myself again - grrrrr! You would think I would learn by now. I do however have this super power - sometimes I do ignore it though - yoga has gifted me with the ability to be self aware. I usually start to alter my food intake for ...the worse, watch multiple (yes more than 2!) Hallmark movie and go to bed late (so for me that is anything after 9.30pm!) and stay inside. Warning bells start sounding! Within me are other signs that tell me I am tilting out off balance - I start to get irritated and cranky at those close to me, I am physically exhausted and my feet ache, I get itchy and my heart starts to race at particular times when I feel overwhelmed and I withdraw - from everything and everyone. I am not going to give it a label as I don't need one - it's my body sending me the messages I need and if I don't listen to one of them then the next will come until - BAM it's an entire orchestra letting me know! Today when I got home from work, before the kids came home and I knew those bells were sounding - rather loudly - I walked with my 2 four legged friends and felt the sun on my face and then I came to my mat and moved. I stayed connected to the earth at all times and always returned back within myself - a place of comfort more than anything - and I just let me breath be as it needed to be. I gave myself some space in my moves and in my slow pace - do I feel better, a little! I reminded myself to get back on my mat and do it again, to walk my dogs and a stern kick up the butt to keep listening from within and it's okay not to do it all. Do you have this super power of self-awareness? I hope so......even if today I was getting a little cranky at it ;) Stay safe, stay healthy and stay connected PS Check out the next post for my mini practice that I did today to stay connected

08.01.2022 Such a tough one now to just head out into nature and breath in the fresh air, feel the crunch of leave under you boots or to just stop and be still in something greater than ourselves . Lockdowns that we now experience make things a little tougher but the benefits of being in the outdoors - even your own backyard - are huge. Research has shown the importance of getting out side positively impacts our mental health, our ability to focus and to improve immune function. I lo...ve being outside - it's calming (unless it involves 2 energetic kids running around like they have ants in their pants), it helps me find perspective and I always feel better for it. No brainer to me - maybe you will find a gem of a treehouse on your next adventure!

06.01.2022 Ow so true.....read this again my lovelies

04.01.2022 Well another term is complete - what a ride! I have grown within my business and self more this pass term so much. I am now taking a mini break to reflect. So here's to term 4!! 04.01.2022 The power of the breath - so simple, so mind blowing & how we breath does matter! I am a total book nerd and the more I can discover and learn about the body and mind the more blown away I become at the incredible abilities and beauty within ourselves, body, mind and soul. Even more so the simplicity in small changes that we can make to aid in our own wellbeing. 'Breath' by James Nestor is an incredible journey about how we have changed as humans and the implications that... evolution and development have had on the ways in which we breath. I love this book as James has really gone above and beyond in discovering the lost art of how to breath, supported it with research , self discovered and provided simple ways to change how you breath to promote better health and wellbeing. How many of us just think breathing is something that we just do? When I stepped on the yoga mat many years ago I turned my nose up (pardon the pun) at breath awareness and techniques - nope I was not there to breath. I am grateful that my practice and knowledge have grown and that I now not only bring awareness to my breath daily and implement techniques but that I use my breath to change my reactions, my state of mind and my sense of being . So today take a moment.....notice - that is it, notice as you breath in and as you breath out. If you want you can observe if you breath through your mouth or nose, breath to your chest or into your belly. Don't get wrapped up in it just notice

03.01.2022 For those in parts of down under - did you remember to move your clock forward this morning? Twice every year my husband and I have a lengthy discussion about the pros and cons of changing the clock - it makes me laugh the consistency of this chat I think it mixes things up - I like the change, it means summer fun time is on it's way! ... How do you go with change? PS- speaking of change - Kindred Yoga has introduced a term membership site for all those that need their practice to change and adapt to life I love that this option gives you the ability to join in live and then replay the session to your hearts delight for the duration of the term. If you miss a live session - no sweat because you get to hang with @ home with kindred with the live session being available within 24hrs of that class! Flexible right head over to www.kindredyoga.com.au/online-classes to find out more.

01.01.2022 Slow and steady wins the race today - keeping myself connected and moving instead of accepting overwhelm :)

01.01.2022 Spring is here - a time of new beginnings, of letting go and of acceptance! Crikey how hard is it to step up and into all those spaces - letting go, acceptance, new beginnings - some serious personal development right there! It has taken me a week to post this photo that the beautiful Terressa Hann Photography did for me in a photo shoot a couple of weeks ago! ... Photo shoots make me squirm and my mind actually goes totally blank and gremlins runs away with all the yoga poses so all I get is blank, blank, blank.....ow tree pose!!! Thank you Terressa Hann for making it a fun time despite my blank moments and reinventing yoga pose names! This picture for me represents letting go, strength, acceptance and beauty. My Warrior III pose does not look like any yoga book picture - nope there are no horizontal lines happening here other than the horizon!!! This is me, limited range of motion and all - moving and grooving in my arena and doing my thing surrounded by a landscape that I am falling in love with more each day. It has taken me a long time to accept that this is okay What areas of your life are you restricting yourself in because of fear or not getting the nod of approval? Get out there beautiful people because the world needs more real people, it needs acceptance and it needs you to move and groove to your rhythm. Find what makes you sing and belt it out like there is no tomorrow......... Happy Friday
