We encourage all our families to engage with this information collected daily to ensure your childs sun safety through out the day. Did you know..... 20.01.2022 Kindy Kapers will support our children to engage in a minutes silence today as a show of respect for our diggers. Each year on this day Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. This year Remembrance Day falls during NAIDOC Week which allows a unique opportunity to highlight Australia's First Nations peoples, sometimes forgotten, role in the armed forces. Kindy Kapers say thank you. Thank you for your sacrifice. Today, and every day, we remember you.

17.01.2022 NAIDOC Week celebrations are held around the country each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year, the NAIDOC week poster is called ‘Shape of Land’ created by Noongar and Saibai Islander man Tyrown Waigana. In Tyrown’s poster, we can see his depiction of the Rainbow Serpent taking form as the shape of Australia. As the Dreamtime story is told, the Rainbow Serpent is responsible for creating this land... we call home. The colours on the Rainbow Serpent is then reflected on the human figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The colours you can see surrounding our country represents the Dreamtime. The human figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land. This week the children in Toddler 2 have used this years NAIDOC poster as their inspiration to celebrate indigenous history and culture. Using materials collected from nature walks, the children each weaved a unique tapestry. With support from Miss Vanessa, the children painted and formed a head for their serpent. The children’s individual tapestry then became the body. Next time you’re waking our hallways, please feel free to stop and admire Toddler 2’s beautiful NADIOC inspired display!

13.01.2022 In our Kindergarten 1 classroom, our educators have implemented daily affirmations at their morning group times to support children with their self confidence and emotional regulation. The educators explained that, Positive affirmations are things we say to ourselves to remind us of how fantastic we can be. We can use them to remind ourselves we are strong, creative, powerful, kind, caring or anything else you want to be. During the day if our educators observe the child...ren feeling sad or displaying behaviours which do not align with their daily affirmations, the educators support the children to say their affirmations again. This supports the childrens emotional regulation and understanding of their reciprocal rights and responsibilities. The support in which our educators are offering to the children directly relates to National Quality Standard 5.2.2 - Self-Regulation: Each child is supported to regulate their own behaviour, respond appropriately to the behaviour of others and communicate effectively to resolve conflicts. "We say our affirmations with our hands on our hearts and alternate them with deep, intentional breaths." Explained our Early Childhood Teacher, Kelli.

13.01.2022 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day is held every year on August 4. Its an opportunity for the whole community to celebrate our children and each year, mob from all over the Country host and attend events focused on kids, culture, family and Community. Childrens Day is organised and promoted by the Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC). SNAICC is the national organisation that provides a voice for Aboriginal and Tor...res Strait Islander children and promotes their rights, safety and wellbeing. To acknowledge this important day, Kindy One worked collaboratively with our peers and educators to create a card. National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day was originally organised for all First Nations children to have a day to celebrate their birthdays. When these children were taken from their families, lots of them did not know their birthdays. They werent able to celebrate this special day. What can we do to show we care? - Miss Kelli (during morning group time) We decided a birthday card was a way in which we could celebrate Australias Traditional Custodians. In the afternoon, we each signed our names on the card and created a front cover incorporating art in the form of a swirling design. This will be added to throughout the week to ensure all of Kindy One have an opportunity to engage with this loving experience.

13.01.2022 Kindy Kapers are excited to reveal our new Centre Philosophy! Recently we have reflected on our previous philosophy, which was created in 2018; and as a collaborated team, we have created a new philosophy which encompasses our forever developing values and beliefs as a service. Our philosophy is made up of words, from those who mean the most to us, our children, our families, our educators, and our wider community.... The bigger words, the more prevalent they were in the responses we received. A supporting document has been created to link our philosophy to the National Quality Framework, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ECA Code of Ethics, The Affinity Way, the Early Years Learning Framework and the Education and Care National Services Regulations. Thank you for your support throughout this process. #connectedcommunity #qualityimprovementplan #nationalqualitystandards

09.01.2022 "Here is the sky, Here is the land. Here are my friends, And here I am. We stand together hand in hand,... To acknowledge the Quandamooka People of this land. Quandamooka Djargan Marumba Quandamooka country is beautiful." Today we celebrated and reflected on the first day of National Reconciliation Week. Our focus for today was on our Acknowledgment of Country. This morning we joined children from all across the centre for a combined Acknowledgment and some music and movement. Our educators are extremely proud of our knowledge and understanding of this culturally inclusive practice. While there is a long and complex history regarding Australias First Nations people, our children are already developing respect and appreciation for their culture. #NationalQualityStandard1.1.2 #connectedcommunity

07.01.2022 This month, Kindy Kapers is participating in a fundraiser called Going Pink For June which is to raise money for breast cancer research. Our Kindergarten 2 classroom have previously brainstormed other ideas of how they could raise money for the fantastic charity. Some of the suggestions were by making and selling pink play dough. Today, Kindergarten 2 worked together to make pink play dough to receive donations. Some of the children asked to help write a sign for the foyer... which they also drew love hearts and flowers on. In the afternoon, the children took turns in being up in the front foyer and collecting donations for the play dough. Throughout this process, our wonderful educators have supported our young children to challenge their thinking and emotional intelligence to support others that are in need. Such intentional experiences like this, support children and enables them to understand their feelings of care and empathy for others which is an integral part of the Lifelong Learning Approach - Emotional Confidence. Emotional Confidence is an aspect of development that is supported by our educators, all the way from birth to school age. We understand that their best learning occurs when they feel safe, secure and supported. Positive dispositions for learning and relationships are created when children are loved, nurtured, recognised and encouraged and when provided with opportunities for self-reflection and expression. If you would like to purchase a pot of pink play dough to support breast cancer research, then please stop by the main foyer with a gold coin donation. #connectedcommunity #gopinkforbreastcancer

04.01.2022 As part of our NAIDOC Week focus, we have been exploring some influential contemporary Australians. These people are part of our country's First Nations people and have all contributed to our modern day society. Exploring these artists, actors, musicians, politicians, sportsmen, etc from our modern zeitgeist supports a broader perspective of what an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person looks like and contributes to our community. Miss Jasmine supported our understanding of each of our subjects, using our iPad to research information and source videos of them in action. We are very proud of our inclusive and respectful Kindergarten class!

03.01.2022 / Kindergarten / I am 4. I cannot write my name because instead youll find me lost in a world of magical, imaginative play. I cannot recognise many letters bec...ause instead I am busy taking risks and learning resilience through failure in play. I cannot read a book but instead I can read other peoples body language and determine how they are feeling. I cannot count beyond 20 but instead I am learning inclusion and know how exclusion makes others feel. I do not sit still because instead Ill be running, jumping, swinging and turn-taking in the garden. I do not complete worksheets because I am busy using my natural curiosity and learning in authentic ways. I do not need any flash cards because my vocabulary is already advanced from the singing and reading I do with my loved ones. I can already rhyme, hypothesise, initiate and reciprocate conversation and there wasnt a test needed to determine that! I am not always happy, because I have a healthy respect for ALL of my emotions and am learning how to regulate them. I am actively involved in decision-making that affects my life and learn natural consequences from some of my decisions. My social & emotional skills are actually far more predictive of the positive outcomes ill experience as an adult, rather than early academics. Regardless of my families wealth or demographic, my social & emotional skills right now will largely predict my future wellbeing including criminal activity, tertiary skills, and overall happiness. Do not feel the urge to rush your children into early academics. There are FAR more important things in life

01.01.2022 Continuous improvement 7.2.1 There is an effective self-assessment and quality improvement process in place. You may have notice we have had a change in our family foyer. Our Quality improvement plan (QIP) is a document that identifies our services goals for quality improvement and notes some strategies for achieving those goals. It supports our educators to stay focused on the continuous improvement to support your child/childrens learning journey. To ensure Kindy Kaper...s aligns with the regulatory authorities regulations (Reg 55) we utilise this document to govern and support all we implement at our service. How can our families be involved? You will see on the back table in the family foyer a question and clipboard for you to provide us with feed back. Please take some time to flick through our Quality Improvement folder placed in the QIP display. We appreciate all feedback. #NQS #Regulations #contininuousimprovement
